Keiser (Fla.) Remains Atop Team Standings

Columbus, Ga. – Swimmers from five different schools claimed individual national titles as Keiser (Fla.) tallied 426.5 points to extend its lead in the team standings heading into the final day. In addition, a trio of national records were set Friday night at the NAIA Swimming & Diving Championship at the Columbus Aquatic Center.
• The Seahawks notched two wins on the day including breaking the NAIA record in the 400 medley relay. Marine Lecomte, Nikoline Biltoft-Jensen, Ines Laurent, and Danai Sofoulis teamed up to clock a 3:44.00 breaking the previous record set in 2012. Rachel Bradley began finals by touching the wall in 4:22.41 to break the NAIA record in the 400 IM and lead Keiser to a one-two finish.
• Stella Warborn of St. Thomas (Fla.) set a new NAIA mark en route to winning the 100 breast stroke with a time of 1:01.41. The Bobcats are in second place of the team standings with 306 points.
• Olivet Nazarene (Ill.) climbed to third place with 221 points after a third place finish int eh 400 medley relay. Halle Briner notched a runner-up finish in the 200 yard free.
• Milligan (Tenn) sits in fourth place with 220 points, while Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) is in fifth with 206 points. Maaike Broersma captured her second national title of the meet, winning the 100 back with a time of 54.12.
• Valentia Zapata of Cumberlands (Ky.) edge out the field to win the 100 fly with a time of 55.32.
• Capturing the final national title of the day was Kylee Sears of The Masters. The sophomore pulled away to win the 200 free, clocking a time of 1:50.28.
The NAIA Championship will continue Saturday, March 9, with the final day of competition. Prelims are slated to begin at 10a.m. EST and finals will start at 5 p.m. EST.
