Keiser (Fla.) Remains Atop Team Standings Midway Through NAIA Women's Swimming & Diving Championship

Columbus, Ga. – Keiser (Fla.) remained atop the team stands after the second day of competition at the NAIA Women’s Swimming & Diving Championship Thursday night at the Columbus Aquatic Center.  In total six events were up for grabs on the day. 

  • Keiser earned a pair of national titles and runner-up finishes to sit in first place with 234 points.  The Seahawks won the 400 medley relay as Emma Sofie Augustsson, Ori Freibach, Anna Herbst, and Camryn Hudson teamed up to go 3:49.21.  Hudson collected Keiser's first individual national title in the 200 IM with a time of 2:05.52, while Marine Lecomte earned a runner-up finish in the 500 free.
  • SCAD-Savannah (Ga.) opened the finals session by winning the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 1:34.75.  Sloan Sizemore touched the wall in 23.12 to win the 50 free as the Bees had three of the top four finishers in the event.  SCAD is in second place of the overall standings with 217 points.
  • Olivet Nazarene (Ill.) has tallied 161 points to be in third place.  The Tigers placed runner-up in the 400 medley relay to close out the night, while Allison Pearson swam a 2:05.55 to place second in the 200 IM.
  • Cumberlands (Ky.) is in one spot back with 150 points.  The Patriots Ali Pecore came from behind to edge out the competition by 0.09 seconds to win the 500 free national title.
  • Milligan (Tenn.) is in fifth place with 110 points to round out the top five.
  • In the one-meter dive competition, Lincoln’s Carla Gutierrez Anaya scored a 224.50 to capture the Lynx first individual diving national title.  Gutierrez beat out the eight-person field and earned the top spot by ten points over the next closest competitor. 

The NAIA Championship will continue Friday, March 4, with the third day of competition. Prelims are slated to begin at 9 a.m. EST and finals will start at 5 p.m. EST.
