Day 2 - NAIA Women's Swimming & Diving Championships

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Defending NAIA champion SCAD Savannah (Ga.) recorded seven top-three finishes to remain atop the team leaderboard with 293.5 points, after the second day of competition at the NAIA Swimming & Diving Championships at the Allan Jones Aquatic Center. Four individual champions and champions in two relays were decided on the day.

  • The Bees opened finals with Anna Kate McGinty, Spencer Sheridan, Chloe Hui, and Sloan Sizemore teaming up to win the 200 free relay with a time of 1:33.32.  Isabella Song notched her first individual national title as she won the 200 IM (2:02.75), while McGinty touched the wall in 23.27 to win the 50 free. 
  • In addition to the three national titles, SCAD posted a runner-up finish in the 400 medley relay (3:47.85) and trio of third place finishes.
  • Keiser (Fla.) saved their best performance for last as Emma Sofie Augustsson, Ori Freibach, Anna Herbst, and Elianna Kennon teamed up to win the 400 medley relay with a time of 3:45.52. The Seahawks added a runner-up finish in the 200 free relay to remain in second place of the team standings with 160 points.   
  • Cumberlands (Ky.) holds strong in third place with 145 points after tallying one national champion and a pair of third-place finishes. Reigning NAIA Swimmer of the Year Mendy De Rooi touched the wall in 4:58.51 to win the 500 free for the second consecutive year.
  • St. Ambrose (Iowa) posted a one-two finish in the one-meter dive event.  Andrea Adam edged out teammate Taylor Madison 242.20 to 228.75 to take the win.
  • Olivet Nazarene (Ill.) and Indiana Wesleyan recorded 137 and 102 points, respectfully, to round out the top five teams in the standings.

The NAIA Championship will continue Friday, March 6, with the third day of competition. Prelims are slated to begin at 10 a.m. EST, while finals will start at 6 p.m. EST.  Live video of the championship can be found here, while live results can be found here.
