NAIA R.I.S.E. Objectives
Respect, Inclusivity, Support, Education
The RISE Committee oversees the NAIA's efforts to create a welcoming and supportive environment for diverse and underrepresented student-athletes, coaches, administrators, and staff.
As a committee, we continually strive to create a culture where everyone, regardless of age, color, disability, ethnicity, sex, gender identity, gender expression, genetic information, marital status, national origin, race, religion, sexual orientation, or veteran status, has opportunities to participate, excel, and advance.
By doing so, we firmly believe we can create an association rooted in athletic, academic, and career excellence for all.
I. Governance and Leadership Academy:
- The NAIA Governance and Leadership Academy provides training on NAIA governance issues and strategic initiatives, introduces attendees to NAIA committee work, and prepares young minority or female administrators for committee service.
- Identify graduating student-athletes and young NAIA professionals across our membership to participate in a Governance Academy that will expose them to the NAIA legislative process.
II. RISE Resources:
- The committee gathers, develops, and deploys RISE resources available to members at convention, NACDA, and online training platforms. Topics include:
- Getting started and implementing NAIA RISE best practices
- Expanding the promotion of careers in athletics and within the NAIA
III. Convention Track:
- The committee shares resources and RISE success stories annually at the NAIA National Convention.
