Bellevue (Neb.) Wins Pool E Tiebreak
SIOUX CITY, Iowa - In a Pool E tiebreak scenario at the 2024 NAIA Women's Volleyball National Tournament, Providence (Mont.), Bellevue (Neb.) and Marian (Ind.) faced off once more to advance to the quarterfinals.
In a race to 25 points, the Bellevue Bruins defeated the Marian Knights in a tiebreak set 25-22.
The Bruins were able to pull away with an early five-point lead for a score of 9-4, which forced the Knights to take an early timeout. After the timeout, MU worked its way back to a one-point deficit on a serving run by Khori Dryden.
Nicole Wilkinson's blocking efforts kept Marian in the game, but Bellevue was able to execute offensively with Eve Fountain leading the way.
With the win, the Bellevue Bruins advanced to play the newly designated one seed Providence to decide who advanced.
BU once again took an early lead, forcing an Argo timeout. Out of the time-out, Bella Thompson of Providence brought the score back within one point.
However, the Bruins answered right back with an eight-point service run led by Lia Aiwohi, to extend their lead to 23-11.
Ultimately, the Bruins defeated the Providence Argos 25-11 in the final tiebreak set.
