No.16 Montana Western Hands No.1 Northwestern (Iowa) Their First Loss of Season

SIOUX CITY, Iowa [BOX SCORE] In an exciting pool play match-up at the 2024 NAIA Women's Volleyball Championship, the Montana Western Bulldogs defeated the Northwestern (Iowa) Red Raiders in four sets (25-19, 17-25, 25-19, 25-20).

The Bulldogs had a strong offensive performance, with Jazi Smith leading the team with 19 kills and Danyel Martin adding 10 kills. Taylor Petersen had 22 assists, and Madisyn Frazier contributed 16 digs.

UMW outblocked NWC by 18 total blocks (UWM 32 assisted; 12 assisted, 2 solo NWC). Jordan Olson and Danyel Martin led the Bulldog's defensive effort at the net with nine assisted blocks apiece. 

Northwestern fought through the entire match, as Jazlin Douma led the team with 16 kills, while Alysen Dexter followed with 15 kills of her own.

Montana Western showcased its talent and earned an upset win over Northwestern in this NAIA Women's Volleyball pool play match to advance out of pool play for the first time.

The Bulldogs will play the winner of Pool H at 11 a.m. CT Saturday.
