2022 NAIA Women's Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week

Players of the week are evaluated on their performance during the week prior to the announcement. Each player is selected out of a pool of conference and group award winners.

Week 6 (May 5, 2022)

Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week: Becca Richtman, Montana Tech

  She was named the Track Athlete of the Meet for the Frontier Conference Championship for scoring 38 points total.

 

Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week: Ahmia Dorsey, Langston (Okla.)

  Ahmia Dorsey placed first in the triple jump at the Southwestern Relays with a mark of 39 feet, 5¾ inches (12.03 meters) to set a new Langston record and made the A standard list for the NAIA Championships. She is currently ranked seventh overall in the NAIA in the triple jump.

Week 5 (April 27, 2022)

Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week: Giorgia Mameli, Marian (Ind.)

  Mameli hit 3 NAIA A standards at the Little State Championships and was the Crossroads League Track Athlete of the Week, setting two school records and winning four events helping Marian win the event for the first time ever. Mameli broke school records in the 100m and 200m, now ranked No. 11 in them both the 100m and 200m in the nation.

Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week: Brittany Jones, William Carey (Miss.)

  Jones was named Championship Top Scorer at the SSAC Women's Outdoor T&F Championship with 36 points. She won the high jump (1.67m) and long jump (5.90m), while finishing 2nd in the triple jump (12.30m). She hit the NAIA A qualifying mark in all three events

Week 4 (April 20, 2022)

Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week: Praise Idamadudu, Cumberland (Tenn.)

A Standards in 200m- the fastest time in NAIA. A Standards in 400m- broke her best time of the year, also the fastest time in NAIA. A Standards in 100m- 3rd fastest time in the NAIA, lost to Olympic Bronze medalist

Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week: Ashley VerPlank, Cornerstone (Mich.)

 

After tying the school record last week she broke it this week with a vault of 3.85m... Ranks first in the country.

Week 3 (April 13, 2022)

Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week: Jaqual Bush, Southeastern (Fla.)

  Bush posted the third-fastest time in the NAIA in the 100 and the 200 on Saturday.

 

Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week: Madison Green, Grand View (Iowa)

  Green won the Hammer Throw at the Concordia Invite with a NAIA automatic national qualifying mark of 55.34m which currently ranks #1 in the Heart and #2 in NAIA. She also placed 2nd in the Shot Put with a NAIA B standard mark of 13.47m currently the #2 mark in the Heart and the 13th best mark in NAIA.

 


Week 2 (April 6, 2022)

Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week: Praise Idamadudu, Cumberland (Tenn.)

Praise Idamadudu took home first place in the 400m dash with a time of 53.16s, qualifying her with NAIA "A" standards for nationals with the fastest time in the nation. Idamadudu finished third in the 200m dash with a time of 23.43s, the fastest time in the NAIA this year with by three-tenths of a second qualifying her with "A" Standards for nationals.

 

Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week: Kortney Schutt, Friends (Kan.)

Kortney Schutt, the KCAC Women's Indoor Shot Put champion, is in full gear for the Outdoor season. This past weekend at the Friends Spring Open, Schutt won both the Shot Put and Discuss while placing second in the Hammer Throw. The Wichita native recorded two automatic qualifying standards along with a B standard in the Discus. Her performance in all three events are the top marks in the KCAC, with the Shot Put and Hammer Throw marks ranking first in the entire NAIA and her Discus being good for seventh in the nation. Schutt also broke the school record in the Hammer Throw.

Week 1 (March 30, 2022)

Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week: Joy Aby, William Carey (Miss.)

  it NAIA 'A' Qualifying mark in all three events and set a school record in the 100m Hurdles. All three marks currently lead the NAIA.

 

Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week: Nevagant Jones, William Carey (Miss.)

  Hit the NAIA 'A' Qualifying mark and the mark currently leads the NAIA. Only beaten by a jumper from Mississippi State.
