Day 1 – 2022 NAIA Women’s Track and Field Championship

GULF SHORES, Ala. – [RESULTS | SCHEDULE] Day one of the 2022 NAIA Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Championship ended earlier than expected due to weather after two champions were crowned.
Results
10k – Finals will take place Thursday at 10:30 p.m.
Hammer – Kiara Anderson, Hastings (Neb.), 55.21(181-1)
Javelin – delayed to Thursday at 5 p.m.
Pole vault – Josie Puelz, Concordia (Neb.), 4.00
Long jump – delayed to Friday at 11 a.m. CT
- Lauren Tamayo of Hastings (Neb.) leads the heptathlon standings with first-place finishes in 100m hurdles, high jump and 200m. She also finished 11th in shot put. Tamayo has totaled a score of 3,173.
- Valerie Schmidt of Corban (Ore.) is only 126 points removed from the top spot with second-place finishes in 100m hurdles, shot put and 200m. She also placed 7th in high jump.
- Kiara Anderson of Hastings (Neb.) won the hammer throw with a mark of 55.21m (181-1) on her fourth attempt.
- Josie Puelz of Concordia (Neb.) and Victoria Faber of Aquinas (Mich.) hit the same final mark of 4.00 (13-1.5). Puelz however had one less miss than Faber to capture the pole vault title.
- There were four different trial events that happened before the weather interfered and cause the event to finish for the day. The updated schedule can be found HERE
- Concordia (Neb.) leads the way in the team standings with 17 points. Aquinas (Mich.) follows with 11 points.
Day two is set to open at 10:30 a.m. with the continuation of the heptathlon events long jump, javelin and 800m.
