2023 NAIA Women's Soccer Players of the Week - No. 8 (October 17)

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Marina Nawa of Tennessee Southern has been named the NAIA Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week and Mycheala Johnson of Marian (Ind.) has been named the NAIA Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week. The duo was selected based on their performances from October 9-15 and were chosen out of a pool of conference/Continental Athletic Conference (Independents)/unafilliated group nominees. 

Players of the Week are announced weekly throughout the regular-season on Tuesdays on naia.org, Instagram and Twitter.

NAIA Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week

Marina Nawa, Tennesse Southern - JR - Midfielder

  • Recorded a total of 16 points last week with six goals scored and four assists between two games.
  • Posted a hat trick in the 7-0 win against Middle Georgia State.
  • Secured the double hat trick two days later against Brewton-Parker (Ga.) with three goals and three assists.

NAIA Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week

Mycheala Johnson, Marian (Ind.) - SO - Goalkeeper

  • Big-time performance last week with seven saves in the 0-0 draw to No. 2 Spring Arbor (Mich.).
  • The draw handed No. 2 Spring Arbor (Mich.) their first non-win result of the season.
