Preview 2025 NAIA Women's Basketball Championship - Final Site

KANSAS CITY, Mo. –[SCHEDULE CHAMPIONSHIP PROGRAM BRACKET] The 44th Annual NAIA Women’s Basketball Championship, presented by Sterling and Bomgaars, will tip off for the 27th time in Sioux City, Iowa, on Thursday, March 20, at 1 p.m. CT. The single-elimination championship runs through March 25 at the Tyson Events Center.

The round of 16 tips off with Cramer Quadrant No. 1 Bethel (Tenn.) competing in the 1:00 p.m. game on Thursday afternoon, squaring off against No. 4 Hastings (Neb.).

Championship Nuggets

  • Sixty-four teams qualified for the 2025 championship field. After the first and second rounds at 16 sites around the country, the field was narrowed to 16 teams that advanced to the final site in Sioux City. 
  • Campbellsville (Ky.) holds the highest number of appearances, not only in the championship field but also in all-time championship history, with 33 total appearances.
  • This is the second time that Bethel (Tenn.) has made it to the Round of 16 since 2022.
  • Dordt (Iowa) returns as the defending national champion.
  • This is the first time the Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) has advanced to the final site since divisions combined, and the championship was hosted in Sioux City. The last time that FHU advanced to the final site was in 2019.
  • The last time that Georgetown (Ky.) advanced past the Second Round was in 2012.
  • In only the team's second appearance in the championship field, Governors State (Ill.) advances to the final site for the first time.
  • Langston (Okla.) also advances to the final site in Sioux City for the first time in program history. The team has played as far as the quarterfinals in 2007.
  • Mid-America Christian (Okla.) has advanced out of the First and Second Rounds for the first time. The team first qualified in 2021 and will make its first appearance in the Round of 16 on Friday.
  • The last time that Southern Oregon advanced to the final site was in 2016 when the team finished as runner-up to Marian (Ind.).
  • Southern Oregon is also the only team in the field that remains undefeated on the season, with a record of 33-0.
  • Xavier (La.) is also making its first appearance at the final site.
  • Indiana Tech is the lowest seed in the field at No. 14.
  • The one seed’s are the only see that made it through the First and Second Rounds in all four quadrants.  
  • Five of the 16 teams at the final site were at-large qualifiers.
  • Hastings (Neb.), Indiana Wesleyan, Marian (Ind.), Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) and Dordt (Iowa) are the teams that remain in the championship field that have won a title before. Hastings has won the most with three titles.
  • Eight conferences are represented at the final site: Cascade Collegiate Conference, Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference, Crossroads League, Great Plains Athletic Conference, Mid-South Conference, Red River Athletic Conference, Sooner Athletic Conference and Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference. The Mid-South boasts the largest number of teams, with five remaining.
