SIOUX CITY, Iowa [BOX SCORE]- In a closely contested basketball game, Marian (Ind.) secured a victory against Cumberlands (Ky.) with a final score of 77-72 during the 2025 NAIA Women's Basketball Championship Round of 16 inside the Tyson Events Center. 

Marian, with a season record of 27-7, displayed a balanced offensive and defensive performance. The team was led by Abbey McNally, who scored 20 points while contributing significantly for the Knights on the defensive end with 7 rebounds and four steals. Madisyn Bailey of Marian also played a crucial role, adding 11 points and nine assists, demonstrating her playmaking abilities. Taylor Double of Marian contributed 16 points, showcasing her efficiency with a shooting percentage of 54.5%.

The Patriots, with a record of 26-6, put up a strong fight throughout the game. Kassie Monday was the standout performer for Cumberlands, scoring 17 points and providing six assists. Kaylie Monday supported her sister's efforts with 14 points, while Jaiden Cox added 15 points off the bench.

The game was competitive from the start, with Marian initially taking the lead in the first quarter, scoring 22 points to Cumberlands' 20. Despite Cumberlands' superior three-point shooting, achieving 47.4% compared to Marian's 28.6%, Marian's overall field goal percentage of 42.9% and their ability to capitalize on free throws proved decisive. Overall, Marian's teamwork and strategic play allowed them to overcome Cumberlands in this thrilling encounter, adding another win to their impressive season record.

Marian's victory bolsters their impressive season record to 27-7, while Cumberlands concludes the game with a 26-6 record. With the win, the Knights advance to the quarterfinals for the sixth time on Saturday, March 22 to face the defending national champions Dordt (Iowa).
