2023-24 NAIA Softball Coaches’ Top 25 - No. 2 (March 20)
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Our Lady of the Lake (Texas) retained the No. 1 spot in the second NAIA Softball Coaches' Top 25 Rating of the season after they received all 18 first-place votes. Oklahoma City rose three spots to No. 2 this week as Central Methodist (Mo.) climbed to No. 3, Science & Arts (Okla.) sits at No. 4 and Oregon Tech moved up to round out the top 5. Vanguard (Calif.) and Madonna (Mich.) both joined the rankings sitting at No. 22 and No. 24, respectively.
Rating Methodology
- The rating was voted upon by a panel of head coaches representing each of the conferences and the Continental Athletic Conference (Independents).
- The Top 25 is determined by a points system based on how each voter ranks the best teams. A team receives 30 points for each first-place vote, 29 for second-place, and so on through the list.
- The highest and lowest ranking for each team (a non-rating is considered a low rating) is removed and the team’s ranking will be recalculated with an additional point added to each team for every ballot (including discounted ballots) that the teams appear on.
- Teams that receive only one point on the ballot are not considered “receiving votes”
