2023 NAIA Softball Coaches’ Top 25 Poll Three (April 5, 2023)

Softball - Oregon Tech

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Oregon Tech increased its first place votes by four, up to 16, in the latest edition of the NAIA Softball Top 25. The Owls stayed put, along with the four teams that followed from two weeks ago in Our Lady of the Lake (Texas), Cumberlands (Ky.), Baker (Kan.) and Southern Oregon. College of Idaho made strides this week, up four slots to No. 8, but the biggest positive movement was that of Marian, who checked-in with a six spot improvement at No. 12. Mount Vernon Nazarene (Ohio) and Hope International (Calif.) were the lone newcomers this week.

Poll Methodology

  • The poll was voted upon by a panel of head coaches representing each of the conferences and the Continental Athletic Conference (Independents).
  • The Top 25 is determined by a points system based on how each voter ranks the best teams. A team receives 30 points for each first-place vote, 29 for second-place and so on through the list.
  • The highest and lowest ranking for each team (a non-rating is considered a low rating) is removed and the team’s ranking will be recalculated with an additional point added to each team for every ballot (including discounted ballots) that the teams appear on.
  • Teams that receive only one point on the ballot are not considered “receiving votes”
  • The frequency of the polls is bi-weekly. This policy was approved by the National Administrative Council (NAC) prior to the 2016-17 academic season. This change allows raters the opportunity to consider a larger body of work between rating periods.
