2023 NAIA Softball Coaches’ Top 25 Poll Four (April 19, 2023)
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Oregon Tech garnered 18 of the 19, first-place votes in the latest edition of the Top 25. Our Lady of the Lake (Texas) and Cumberlands (Ky.) remained at Nos. 2 and 3 while Southern Oregon and Oklahoma City advanced to landed at Nos. 4-5 respectively. For the defending NAIA National Champion Stars, it marks a return to the top five since the preseason edition in November.
Poll Methodology
- The poll was voted upon by a panel of head coaches representing each of the conferences and the Continental Athletic Conference (Independents).
- The Top 25 is determined by a points system based on how each voter ranks the best teams. A team receives 30 points for each first-place vote, 29 for second-place and so on through the list.
- The highest and lowest ranking for each team (a non-rating is considered a low rating) is removed and the team’s ranking will be recalculated with an additional point added to each team for every ballot (including discounted ballots) that the teams appear on.
- Teams that receive only one point on the ballot are not considered “receiving votes”
- The frequency of the polls is bi-weekly. This policy was approved by the National Administrative Council (NAC) prior to the 2016-17 academic season. This change allows raters the opportunity to consider a larger body of work between rating periods.
