COLUMBUS, Ga. – (Box Score) Senior Danielle Fox earned her third victory and second shutout of the World Series as No. 8 Oklahoma City notched a 4-0 victory over No. 7 Lindsey Wilson (Ky.), in an elimination game at the 2014 NAIA Softball World Series at the South Commons Softball Complex on Tuesday.

Lindsey Wilson, playing their fourth game of the World Series, collected four hits on the day, two by senior Madison Scott. The Blue Raiders conclude their season at 50-11 overall.

Oklahoma City pushed across three unearned runs in the sixth inning and tacked on a single run in the top of the seventh.

Fox walked only one batter and struck out six to improve to 23-4 on the season. The shutout was the eighth of the year for the Yukon, Okla., native. She has now pitched 25 1/3 innings in four World Series appearances and allowed a total of five earned runs with 15 strikeouts.

“She’s obviously throwing well for us,” Oklahoma City head coach Phil McSpadden said. “She’s putting a bit of a spin on the ball and showing good command of the zone.”

In the Blue Raiders half of the fourth inning, junior Andrea Whelan and Scott led off the inning with back-to-back singles. A wild pitch advanced the runners to second and third. Junior Kristina Krupinski stepped in and hit a ground ball that was fielded by freshman first baseman Maxime Van Dalen. She held the runners before recording the first out of the inning. A walk to junior Amanda Trampe loaded the bases.

Freshman Bailey Mize sent a fly ball to shallow left field. Junior Jamie Rateliff fielded the fly ball attempt in foul territory and threw a strike to the plate just ahead of the sliding Whelan to complete a double play and end the inning.

The game remained scoreless until the sixth inning. Sophomore Kyndra Holasek produced her sixth base hit of the series to open the inning, moved to third on a base hit by junior Cheyanne Terry and scored on a fielding error. A two-RBI double by junior Emily Krienke boosted the lead to 3-0.

Lindsey Wilson freshman starting pitcher Casey Bryan was impressive through the first five innings. She had a no-hitter heading into the sixth inning, only giving up three walks. She dropped to 20-7 on the year.

Oklahoma City had four players each post a base hit in the win, the big one being the 2-RBI double by Krienke.

The Stars (55-12) advance in the double-elimination event and will meet either No. 10 College of Idaho or No. 6 William Carey (Miss.) in an elimination game Wednesday at 4 p.m. EDT.

The 34th Annual Softball World Series is a 10-team, double-elimination event hosted by the Columbus Sports Council.
