NAIA Softball Weekly Awards Announced - #4

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Sharon Bell of St. Gregory's (Okla.) has been selected as the NAIA Softball Pitcher of the Week while Janessa Penner of Minot State (N.D.) was awarded the NAIA Softball Player of the Week for March 31-April 6.

Bell, a junior pitcher from Perth, Australia, recorded six wins last week including a no-hitter against Eastern New Mexico. She struck out 59 batters in 37 innings and allowed just three earned runs. Bell struck out 10 batters and threw her first no-hitter of the season against ENMU. She also carried a no-hitter into the seventh inning against No. 13 Oklahoma City.

Penner, a sophomore shortstop from Morden, Manitoba, recorded eight hits in 11 at bats and drove in nine runs in three games during the week. She batted .727 with 1.818 slugging percentage, four homeruns and 10 runs. Penner is also perfect 3-for-3 on stolen bases
