#3 Oklahoma City def. Grand View 8-0
Despite a scoreless contest through three innings, #3 seeded Oklahoma City University posted eight runs in the final three frames, including six runs in the top of the sixth to defeat Grand View College (Iowa) 8-0.  The Oklahoma City Stars were led by Kate Beasley, Lelys Gomez, Jill Vaughn, and Lacey Neuman with two hits each.  Cat Calvert added a solo homerun for the Stars.  Dasha Shembereva (43-5) tossed a complete game, three-hit shutout to earn the win.  Shannon Michelson (13-9) of Grand View took the loss, allowing all eight of OCU's runs in 5.2 innings pitched.

#6 Concordia def. SCAD 5-0
Sixth-seeded Concordia University (Calif.) helped the top seeds remain perfect to in day one action at the tournament as they topped Savannah College of Art and Design (Ga.) 5-0.  Concordia (42-16) put the game away earlier with four runs in the top of the first inning, and then added their fifth run in the top of the seventh.  Nubia Enriquez and Jamie Van Dijk led Concordia with three hits each.  Ashley Fama led with two RBI in the game.  Natalie Brown (22-10) recorded a complete game, three-hit shutout while striking out 11 batters.  Kristen Curette (14-7) took the loss by allowing the five runs and 13 hits over seven innings.

#3 Oklahoma City def. William Woods 7-2
Oklahoma City University (51-5), seeded #3, improved to 2-0 in day one of pool play with a 7-2 win over Williams Woods University (Mo.).  The Stars of OCU scored two runs in each the first and seconds inning to take a 4-0 lead.  Williams Woods cut the lead in half with two runs in the bottom of the second sparked by an RBI double by Lindsay Skwira.  The 4-2 lead for OCU remained until the top of the sixth when the Stars added a run in the sixth and two more in the seventh to pull away for the 7-2 win.  The Stars were led by Randy Scheer, Ursula Lundberg, Rachel Cope, and Lacey Neuman with two hits each.  Cat Calvert and Lundberg each drove in two runs.  Lundberg, for OCU, popped a solo homerun in the sixth.  Dasha Shembereva improved to 44-5 on the season with a complete game effort, allowing two runs on four hits while striking out six batters.  Jennifer Golden (25-7) allowed all seven of OCU's runs on 12 hits in her seven innings of work.

#6 Concordia def. Grand View 4-3 (8 innings)
In the second extra inning game of day one, Concordia University (Calif.) avoided an upset bid by Grand View College (Iowa) by rallying for a 4-3 win in eight innings.  Grand View scored first with two runs in the bottom of the third on four hits.  Concordia answered with one run in the top of the fourth with three hits, sparked by a one out double by Ashley Evans.  The score remained 2-1 in favor of Grand View until the top of the seventh when Concordia's Natalie Brown led off with a solo homerun to left field.  The game went to the top of the eight tied at 2-2 when Concordia struck again with a two-run homer by Ashley Alverez to take a 4-2 lead.  In the bottom of the eight, Grand View made it interesting with an unearned run, but couldn't get any closer.  Natalie Brown relieved Kory Briggs for Concordia in the third inning and tossed 2.2 innings to get the win.  Tiffany Summy (13-7) went the distance, but took the loss, by allowing four runs on nine hits.

SCAD def. William Woods 6-0
Savannah College of Art and Design (Ga.) evened its day one pool play record at 1-1 with a 6-0 win over Williams Woods University (Mo.).  SCAD (37-15) scored a run in the first, three in the fourth, and two more in the fifth to earn the win.  Meghan Temple (15-6) went the distance for the shutout, allowing seven hits and striking out five batters.  Leading the way offensively for SCAD was Kayla Tom with three hits and three RBI.  Whitney Hess added a solo homerun for the Bees.  Jennifer Golden (25-8) took the loss as she allowed seven and four unearned runs in four innings pitched.  Nicole Davenport toss three innings of relief allowing two runs on four hits.
