2024 NAIA Men's Lacrosse Players of the Week - No. 5 (March 26)

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Cooper Nienhuis of Aquinas (Mich.) has been named the NAIA Men's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week, and Michael Toohey of Cumberlands (Ky.) has been named the NAIA Men's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week. The duo was selected based on their performances from March 18-24 and were chosen out of a pool of conference/Continental Athletic Conference (Independents)/unafilliated group nominees. 

Players of the Week are announced weekly throughout the regular season on Tuesdays on naia.org, Instagram, and Twitter.

NAIA Men's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week

Cooper Nienhuis, Aquinas (Mich.) - FR - Midfielder

  • Nienhuis was a critical part in the 20-11 victory over Lourdes (Ohio) last week.
  • Earned the start in the lone game last week; he tallied 11 points on eight goals and a trio of assists.
  • Secured four ground balls, two caused turnovers, and all 11 shots taken were on goal for a perfect shot on goal percentage.

NAIA Men's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week

Michael Toohey, Cumberlands (Ky.) - SR - Goalkeeper

  • Critical performances between the sticks last week for the Patriots, helping to extend their winning streak to a program-best eight games.
  • Earning the start in both games, Toohey compiled 92.57 minutes in goal and picked up a pair of wins.
  • Allowed an average of 2.58 goals while compiling a 77.8 save percentage over those two games.
