2022 NAIA Men's Lacrosse Players of the Week

Players of the week are evaluated on their performance during the week prior to the announcement. Each player is selected out of a pool of conference and Continental Athletic Conference (Independents) award winners.

Week 9 (April 19, 2022)

Offensive Player of the Week: Nolan Kelley, Michigan-Dearborn

  Kelley had 12 goals and four assists on the week and leads the NAIA in goals on the season with 56. He broke the UM-Dearborn single season goal and point record in Saturday's win over Taylor University.

 Nominees: Breck Putzier, William Penn (Iowa); Christian Vanover, Cumberlands (Ky.)

 

Defensive Player of the Week: Will Settle, Cumberlands (Ky.)

  Will was unstoppable in UC's quarterfinal game making 11 saves in just over three-quarters of action. Will made six saves in the first half to keep the Knights off the board and added five more saves in the third period. Settle scooped five ground balls in the win, which was a season-high for him

Week 8 (April 12, 2022)

Offensive Player of the Week: Brandon DeMarco, Ottawa (Kan.)

  Brandon DeMarco averaged six goals per game this past week, scoring 18 goals in three games. DeMarco scored nine times on nine shot attempts in a 20-4 win over Missouri Valley, just one goal shy of the OU single-game record. In a 20-6 win over Saint Mary on Thursday, DeMarco added five more goals while dishing out four assists for a team-high nine points. He scored four goals in a near-upset of No. 3 University of Cumberlands on Saturday for OU's Senior Day. He now has 41 goals on the season, leading the NAIA in that category.

 

Defensive Player of the Week: Jacob Vincentini, Ottawa (Kan.)

  Jacob Vincentini continues to be a menace in the faceoff circle, winning 44 of 58 chances for a 75% FO win percentage in three games last week. Vincentini lost only one faceoff in two KCAC games last week against Missouri Valley and Saint Mary, going 30-31(96.7%) in the faceoff circle and snagging 22 groundballs. In a near upset of No. 3 University of Cumberlands, Vincentini had a more modest 52% (14-27) FO win percentage and six ground balls. His 68% (155-228) on faceoffs is currently fourth-best in the NAIA, and 85 groundballs in seventh best.

Week 7 (April 5, 2022)

Offensive Player of the Week: Breck Putzier, William Penn (Iowa)

  Putzier was a part of 18 scores last week, including tallying 11 goals with 7 assists.

 

Defensive Player of the Week: Austin Hall, Tennessee Wesleayn

  In the team's third consecutive upset win over a ranked opponent, this time #3 Cumberlands, Halls played a pivotal part in the upset win, finishing with a career-high 20 saves. Hall followed that up with only allowing five goals in the team's next win.

 


Week 6 (March 29, 2022)

Offensive Player of the Week: Michael Shakerin, St. Ambrose (Iowa)

 

Had 5 points in each of SAU's ranked wins and scored 4 goals against RV Ottawa; leads the team in goals, assists, and points

 

Defensive Player of the Week: Austin Hall, Tennessee Wesleyan

Hall was the goalie for two upset wins for the Bulldogs this past week. Hall had a career-high 14 saves in the upset win against #4 Keiser and another 12 in the upset win against #7 Webber International, both on the road.

Week 5 (March 22, 2022)

Offensive Player of the Week: Thomas Fogarty, Cumberlands (Ky.)

  Tommy was the catalyst for the Patriots this week with 11 points, including five in the win over #2 Keiser. His two goals came in the first quarter as UC jumped out to a 4-0 lead in that game as he then got his teammate involved finishing with a team-high 3 assists and five points. He also added six points against St. Andrews with three goals, three assists, and three ground balls in the win.

Defensive Player of the Week: Will Settle, Cumberlands (Ky.)

  Against #2 Keiser, Settle made a season-high 13 stops and limited the Seahawks to their lowest offensive output on the season. He made four first quarter saves to help the Patriots jump out to a 4-0 lead and added five stops in the third quarter as UC took a 9-2 advantage. Will opened the week with five saves and shutting out St. Andrews in the first half to earn the win. He added a caused turnover and three ground balls against Keiser

Week 4 (March 15, 2022)

Offensive Player of the Week: Dillan Bousquet, Reinhardt (Ga.)

  Bousquet helped lead the Eagles to a 2-1 record on the week with a 12-11 loss to Keiser, followed up by a 24-7 victory of Lawrence Tech and a 14-9 win at Madonna. He scored 22 points (14 goals, 8 assists) while putting all 31 of his shot attempts on goal. 

Nominees: Brady Guck, Benedictine (Kan.); Jake Gallaher, Siena Heights (Mich.)

 

Defensive Player of the Week: Austin Hall, Tennessee Wesleyan

  In two wins, Hall had 25 saves while only allowing 15 goals. In the upset win of #6 Concordia, Hall had a career-high 13 saves to help the team secure the win. Hall followed that performance up with a 12-save win against (RV) Lourdes University, helping hold a team that had scored 16 goals in their previous game on March 9 to just 6 goals.

Week 3 (March 8, 2022)

Offensive Player of the Week: Christian Vanover, Cumberlands (Ky.)

  Christian had an incredible week with eight goals and three assists. Against #5 Columbia, Vanover netted four goals and dished out an assist in the 17-5 win over the Cougars. He netted the first goal and assisted the second goal to help UC take the early lead. Christian opened the week with a team-high five points and two caused turnovers in the win over Michigan Dearborn.

Nominees: Louis Czech, Indiana Tech; Joshua Pereira, Midland (Neb.) 

 

Defensive Player of the Week: Kyle TwoBulls, Indiana Tech

  Picked up the win against #8 William Penn with just one goal allowed.

Nominees: Nick Kubik, Cumberlands (Ky.), Jamison Evers, Midland (Neb.) 


Week 2 (March 1, 2022)

Offensive Player of the Week: Michael Hogan, Benedictine (Kan.)

  His 10 goals in the Ravens KCAC opener against Morningside set a new single-game individual scoring record as the Ravens also set a new program record for single-game goals.

Nominees: Dylan Crouch, Cumberlands (Ky.); Andrew Ryan, Indiana Tech 

 

Men's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week: Clayton Boerigter, Aquinas (Mich.)

  Clayton helped the Saints get off to a 2-0 start after taking down #5 Columbia on the road. He saved over half of the shots the top-five team threw his way.

Week 1 (February 22, 2022)

Men's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week: Zachary Sweet, Aquinas (Mich.)

  Zachary led AQ in goals in the lone game played, putting away four of the five SOG to keep the Saints in the double-overtime game.

Men's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week: Clayton Boerigter, Aquinas (Mich.)

  Clayton made the third-most saves in a game in his career against WIU who was receiving votes in the top-10 poll. He only allowed one goal in the last 20 minutes including the fourth quarter and both overtime periods, allowing AQ to complete the comeback.
