2021 NAIA Baseball Coaches’ Top 25 Poll 1 (March 17, 2021)
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Tennessee Wesleyan, thanks in large part to a 21-0 record to begin the year, takes top billing in the first Top 25 of the regular season. Southeastern (Fla.) dropped one spot to No. 2 while Cumberlands (Ky.) went from No. 8 to No. 3. Vanguard (Calif.) jumped from No. 18 to No. 4 while Central Methodist (Mo.) rounded-out the top five.
Poll Methodology
- The poll was voted upon by a panel of head coaches representing each of the conferences and the Association of Independent Institutions.
- The Top 25 is determined by a points system based on how each voter ranks the best teams. A team receives 30 points for each first-place vote, 29 for second-place and so on through the list.
- The highest and lowest ranking for each team (a non-rating is considered a low rating) is removed and the team’s ranking will be recalculated with an additional point added to each team for every ballot (including discounted ballots) that the teams appear on.
- Teams that receive only one point on the ballot are not considered “receiving votes”
- The frequency of the polls is bi-weekly. This policy was approved by the National Administrative Council (NAC) prior to the 2016-17 academic season. This change allows raters the opportunity to consider a larger body of work between rating periods.
