Financial Assistance

Assignment of scholarships, grants in aid, or student loans shall be controlled by the faculty through the regularly constituted committee on student loans and scholarships.

 

Financial Aid and Benefits

Item 1. Institutionally Provided Financial Aid and Benefits

  • Scholarships and financial aid are managed through the institution’s regular financial aid process.
  • Aid for student-athletes cannot exceed the actual cost of tuition, mandatory fees, books, supplies, room, and board.

Item 2. Athletically Related Expenses

  • Institutions can cover expenses related to both intercollegiate and non-intercollegiate athletic competition, including travel, lodging, meals, awards, apparel, and necessary medical expenses.
  • Additional ancillary expenses, such as team-building outings and student-athlete leadership activities, are permissible if provided by the institution or its representatives.
  • A student-athlete can receive athletic related benefits as issued by a club team or national team.

  • Financial benefits from immediate family or legal dependents are unrestricted.
  • Benefits from other individuals (e.g., occasional meals, transportation, gifts) are permissible if unrelated to athletics.
  • Cash or preloaded debit cards are prohibited.
