2024 NAIA Women's Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week – No. 1 (January 10)

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Irmiris Mendez of Southeastern (Fla.) has been named NAIA Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week, and Blessing Samuel of Cumberland (Tenn.) has been selected as the NAIA Women's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week. The duo was selected based on their performances from January 1 - 7 and were selected out of a pool of nominees from across the country.

Players of the week are announced weekly throughout the regular season on Wednesdays on naia.org, Instagram and Twitter.

 NAIA Women’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week

Irmiris Mendez, Southeastern (Fla.) - JR

  • Competed in the Barons Invitational
  • Finished first of six in 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.8
  • Finished first of five in 60 meter with a time of 7.66
  • Finished second of eight in 200 meters with a time of 24.96

 

NAIA Women’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week  

Blessing Samuel, Cumberland (Tenn.) - SO

  • Competed in the Ed Temple Classic
  • Finished first of six in long jump with a mark of 5.64
