2022 NAIA Women's Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week

Players of the week are evaluated on their performance during the week prior to the announcement. Each player is selected out of a pool of conference and Association of Independent Institution's award winners.

Week 6 (February 16, 2022)

Indoor Track Athlete of the Week: Joy Abu, William Carey (Miss.)

  Abu won two of the three events she competed in and hit the NAIA 'A' Qualifying mark in all three to help the Crusaders win the first SSAC Women's Indoor T&F Championship. Her 400m time is the second-best in the NAIA, her 60m Hurdle time is the third-best mark in the NAIA and her 200m mark is the fourth-best in the NAIA

Indoor Field Athlete of the Week: Brittany Jones, William Carey (Miss.)

  Jones won two of the three field events at the SSAC Women's Indoor T&F Championship and hit a pair of NAIA 'A' Qualifying marks. Her 6.01m long jump is the best mark in the NAIA and she also holds the NAIA's best triple jump mark from earlier in the season. She was named Championship Top Scorer, scoring 36 points between track and field events.

Week 5 (February 9, 2022)

Indoor Track Athlete of the Week: Praise Idamaduda, Cumberland (Tenn.)

  In her collegiate debut, she took first place in the 60m, 200m, and 400m while also qualifying with NAIA "A" Standards for all three events. Praise's first-place finishing times of 23.86s and 53.82s in the 200m and 400m are the fastest in the NAIA so far this season. Her time of 7.47s in the 60m is currently tied for second-best in the NAIA thus far. She was named Mid-South Conference Track Athlete of the Week

Indoor Field Athlete of the Week: Arriana Benjamin, Marian (Ind.)

  Won both the shot put and weight throw at the IWU Midwest Classic, shattering her own record in each event. In the shot put Benjamin now holds the No. 1 mark in all of the NAIA after wiping the field at IWU with a 14.72m throw, and in the weight throw Benjamin held a 1.73m lead over the field with her 17.08m mark, now holding the No. 4 mark in the NAIA.

Indoor Track Athlete of the Week: Alyssa Armendariz, Saint Mary (Kan.)

  Both Performances were A standards as well as school records. Anchored DMR with 4:58 1600 meter split to second-fastest time in the NAIA this season. 5k time of 17:20 is currently the 4th fastest time in the NAIA

Indoor Field Athlete of the Week: Emma Pavelek, Point Park (Pa.)

  Emma Pavelek was 1st Place in the High Jump at an NCAA Division I meet at Youngstown State. She hit a height that is tied for #1 in the NAIA and hit the NAIA "A" qualifying standard.

  Abu's 60m Hurdles time of 8.54 leads the NAIA, her 200m time of 24.43 is 4th in the NAIA and her 56.01 time in the 400m is 2nd in the NAIA this season.

Indoor Field Athlete of the Week: CatyLynn Duff, College of Idaho

  Recorded the #1 mark in the NAIA (57-10 1/2) this season in the weight throw, against a high-caliber field at the Snake River Open...it was the #2 mark in C of I history...also won the shot put event

Week 1 (January 12, 2022)

Indoor Track Athlete of the Week: Nisa Thomas, Hastings (Neb.)

   Thomas had a NAIA "A" mark in the 60m hurdles (8.85) and also won the 200m dash (26.11). In the 60m hurdles, she leads the GPAC and is 5th in the NAIA, and she is 3rd in the GPAC for the 200m.

 

Indoor Field Athlete of the Week: Lindsay Adams, Doane (Neb.)

  Adams won the long jump with a mark of 5.66m (18-07.00). She currently ranks 7th nationally in the long jump.
