British Columbia Opens Big Lead on Day 2, Paced by 36-Hole Leader Ng (-6)

YPSILANTI, Mich. – British Columbia’s Jessica Ng posted her second-consecutive 3-under par round and took a four-stroke lead after 36 holes at the 2025 NAIA Women’s Golf National Championship at Eagle Crest in Ypsilanti, Mich., and her Thunderbirds have a commanding lead in the team standings, picking up eight shots on second-place Marian (Ind.).
First-round leader Sharon Shan, of SCAD Savannah (Ga.) was 1-under through eight holes, making seven pars to start her round and a birdie at the par-3 17th, but a bogey at No. 18 started a run, for Shan, who found herself 5-over through 13 holes. She played her last five holes even par – three pars, a birdie, and a bogey – but Ng kept her foot on the pedal all day, making six birdies to just three bogeys to shoot her second 69 of the championship.
Second-place Marian was led by Emma Weiler, who was even par Wednesday after a 1-under performance on Tuesday, one of three players under par in the championship.
Ng’s round helped UBC shoot 288 Wednesday, nine shots better than Tuesday’s 297. Marian also improved, Wednesday, five shots better than Tuesday’s opening round, while Keiser (Fla.) is third, filing a 6-over par 294 on Wednesday, led by the fifth-place individual in the field, Sophia Sindersberger, who is 1-over through 36 holes.
Butapapaporn Sukterm, of Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) is in fourth place, individually, and the only player in the field at even par, shooting 69 on Wednesday to back up Tuesday’s 3-over 75.
SCAD Atlanta (Ga.) made one of the biggest team leaps, improving by 18 shots and vaulting in to fourth-place with a 9-over 297, while William Carey (Miss.) and Milligan (Tenn.) are tied for fifth place in the team standings.
The round also saw a highlight-reel moment, as Olivia Lange, of William Penn (Iowa), recorded a hole-in-one on the 150-yard par-3 fourth. Lange was one of six individual players to make the cut for Thursday’s round, as the field was reduced by 15 teams.
The six individuals that made the cut, plus the top 15 teams, will resume play Thursday morning, at 9 a.m. ET.
