2023-24 NAIA Women's Bowling All-Americans and Special Awards Announced

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has announced the 2023-24 NAIA Women's Bowling All-America teams on Wednesday, prior to the start of the national championship in Sterling Heights, Mich. Additionally, the Special Awards of Player of the Year, Rookie of the Year, and Coach of the Year were released. 

Kristina Catoe from Pikeville (Ky.) has been named the NAIA Player of the Year for the second time and is a four-time All-American; After the 2020-21 season, she was honored with Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year honors. She leads the nation in individual frame fill percentage, first in traditional format frame fill percentage and frame fill percentage in baker scoring on 1,027 chances. Catoe was first in individual scoring average for baker format, third in individual scoring average for traditional format, and second in overall individual scoring average at 20.126. She posted a single pin spare percentage of 97.9% across 292 attempts and had an average first ball pinball of 9.024 on 1,028 attempts. 

Rachel Moore of Culver-Stockton (Mo.) has been selected as the NAIA Rookie of the Year. She was fourth nationally in individual scoring average of 19.831 in 852 frames, sixth in the category for traditional format play and eighth in baker format. For individual frame fill percentage in 852 frames, she had a percentage of 84.7 with is third overall, sixth when broken out by traditional format and ninth in baker format. She was ninth in individual strike percentage with 45.8% and fourth in individual single pin spare percentage at 91.8%. Her average first ball pin fall was 8.930 which was ninth in the country. 

The 2023-24 NAIA Women's Bowling Coach of the Year is awarded to Bobby Brown from the University of Pikeville (Ky.). The Bears ranked second overall in team scoring average at 19.257 across 5,190 frames, was second in traditional format scoring but first in baker play scoring. Pikeville was second in overall team fill percentage at 81.98% and also second in team strike percentage at 44.37%. His squad was the national leader in team spare percentage at 67.61% as well as atop the standings in single pin spare percentage at 89.25%. 

The Executive Committee along with a member from each conference/grouping has a representative on the All-American Committee, in addition to current board and advisory board members. The committee met after the conclusion of conference tournament events for All-American selection. The fifteen players agreed upon by the formed committee will be named All-Americans with five being placed on the first team, second team, and third team. The same committee also selects the Player of the Year Rookie of the Year award winners. The selection committee will determine which players qualify for All-American consideration based upon Field Average, Average Games bowled, Average Differential, Top 5, Top 10 and 1st place finishes for individual standings.
