Qualifiers for the 2023 Men's Volleyball Championship Announced

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – (Pool Play Schedule Bracket) The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics has officially announced the qualifiers for the 2023 NAIA Men's Volleyball National Championship. The 12-team field will begin play on April 11 in West Des Moines, Iowa at the MidAmerican Energy Company RecPlex.

This year's field includes eight automatic bids, three at-large selections and one host berth. The automatic berths are determined by conference/group regular-season or tournament winners. The remaining at-large bids were determined by a selection committee made up of coaches and administrators from across the nation.

Action inside the MidAmerican Energy Company RecPlex will open with three days of pool play starting on April 11 and ending on April 13. The semifinals will take place on April 14 and the championship on April 15.

The NAIA Network– the association's official video-streaming home – will broadcast all matches excluding the championship match live at the 2023 NAIA Men’s Volleyball Championship in West Des Moines, Iowa. The video platform, powered by Presto allows users access to live video, statistics and social interaction on a number of devices, including mobile. Single-day passes can be purchased for $9.95 and a championship package is available at $29.95. The championship match includes all pool play and semifinal matches.

The championship match will be streamed on ESPN3.

Qualifier Highlights

  • There are four teams that have qualified for every championship since the sport moved to championship status in 2019: Benedictine Mesa (Ariz.), Grand View (Iowa), Park (Mo.) and Saint Xavier (Ill.). 
  • Two teams in the field have won a title: Benedictine Mesa (1) and Grand View (2)
  • Nine qualified in the 2023 field were also qualifiers in 2022: Benedictine Mesa, Georgetown (Ky.), Grand View, Indiana Tech, Jamestown (N.D.), OUAZ (Ariz.), Park, Saint Xavier, Vanguard (Calif.)
  • There are three new teams to the championship field that are qualifying for the first time: Menlo (Calif.), The Master’s (Calif.) and Webber (Fla.)
  • The Golden State Athletic Conference qualified the highest number of teams out of a conference with four teams in the championship field.
