MARION, Ind. – The second day of the 2024 NAIA Men’s Outdoor Track and Field Championship yielded five, first-time national champions and one repeat champion.  

• TJ Davis of Eastern Oregon was the runner-up in 2023 and became a national champion in 2024 in the decathlon after biding his time in second place leading into the final event, the 1500m. With a second-place finish in the 1500m, Davis scored enough points to land the first-place spot with a final score and personal best of 7231.
• Dustin Blevins of Montreat (N.C.) became a national champion in the long jump with a personal best of 7.66m, beating the previous mark of 7.56m.
• Oklahoma City won the 4x800m relay for the first time in program history at the outdoor championship with a time of 7:27.64.
• Shandon Reitzell of Midland (Neb.) won back-to-back national titles in the high jump with a new personal best of 2.20m. Reitzell beat his previous personal best that he set at the 2021 national championship with a mark of 2.19m.
• Dillan Melchiore of Cumberlands (Ky.) won his first title in the 5000m race walk with a time of 22:08.39, which was 9.51 seconds ahead of the runner-up Tyler Wilson of British Columbia.
• Christian Rios of Marian (Ind.) won his first national championship title in the discus with a mark of 54.05m. Rios nearly matched his PR of 55.86 that he posted during the 2023 season.
