Day 1 Recap of the 2024 NAIA Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Championship

MARION, Ind. – The first day of the 2024 NAIA Men’s Track and Field Championship saw three champions crowned and the first half of the decathlon.

  • TJ Davis of Eastern Oregon leads the decathlon after five events on the first day of competition. The highest finishes that Davis posted were second place in both the shot put (13.52) and 400m (49.47.
  • Treshawn Roberts of Dakota State (S.D.) is No. 2 in the decathlon field with 3617 points. Roberts's highest finish on the day was first in the shot put with a mark of 13.62m.
  • Chris Wren of Concordia (Neb.) won the hammer throw with a throw of 63.52m. Christian Rios of Marian (Ind.) followed closely with a mark of 63.49m.
  • David Friedberg became a three-time javelin champion in as many years with a mark of 71.88m. Friedberg finished 4.8m ahead of the runner-up Jakob Blatnik of Point Park.
  • Evert Silva of Oklahoma City won the 10,000m with a personal best time of 30:12.35. This is Silva’s first title in the event and the third 10k title for Oklahoma City.
