Recap - Day Two of the 2023 NAIA Men's Outdoor Track and Field Championship

MARION, Ind. - [RESULTS | HEAT SHEET] Day two of the 2023 NAIA Men's Outdoor Track and Field Championship saw six individual champions crowned. 

 

  • The decathlon finished all events on day two, finalizing the 110m hurdles, discus, pole vault, javelin and the 1500m. 
    • Nathaniel Paris of British Columbia maintained his lead in the decathlon on the second day of action after a 1st in 110m hurdles, 2nd in pole vault, 7th in javelin, 8th in discus and 12th in the 1,500m. 
    • After holding the second-place slot after day one, Cole Wilson finished in third with a final score of 6835, while Brett Glaser of Carroll (Mont.) moved up to second with a score of 6879.
  • Goodness Iredia of Cumberlands (Tenn.) won his first title in the long jump with a mark of 7.63m. 
  • Shandon Reitzell of Midland (Neb.) reclaimed his title with a mark of 2.11m after finishing 4th in 2022 & 1st in 2021. 
  • Conner Todsen of Dakota State (S.D.) won his first discus title in the event with a mark of 54.14m. 
  • Jordan Crawford of Missouri Baptist won the racewalk with a time of 21:20.97 and shaved off 28.81 seconds from his 2022 championship win. 
  • Spring Arbor (Mich.) won the 4x800m relay with Isaiah Romeyn, Gary Richardson, Tommee Smith and Dean Reynolds who beat the defending champions Indiana Wesleyan in the event by a margin of 0.06. 
  • Team scores
    • British Columbia took a commanding lead with a total of 31 points after day two. Midland (Neb.) follows with 18.25 and Carroll (Mont.) is third with 16 points.
