Day Two Recap of NAIA Men's Bowling National Championships

STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. – [BRACKET | SCHEDULE] - The 4th Annual NAIA Men's Bowling National Championship, held at 5 Star Lanes, saw Rounds 2-6 bowled on Friday. The 2024 event is once again hosted by Lawrence Tech and the Detroit Sports Commission from March 21st to 23rd. Day Two saw 12 teams begin the day in the Battle For The Red Banner, but by the time the final pins were knocked down only three program's dreams remained alive.

Round Two Highlights

  • No. 1 seed Lawrence Tech (Mich.) won in straight sets over No. 8 St. Francis (Ill.).
  • Seventh ranked SCAD Savannah (Ga.) upset second seeded No. 2 Marian (Ind.) by a 4-1 score.
  • 11th seeded Milligan (Tenn.) also knocked off a higher seed, as they bested No. 3 St. Xavier (Ill.) 4-1.
  • No. 4 Indiana Tech swept No. 5 Pikeville (Ky.) 4-0.

Round Three Highlights

  • Fifth seeded Pikeville (Ky.) avoided elimination, beating sixth seeded Tennessee Wesleyan 4-3.
  • No. 8 St. Francis (Ill.) defeated No. 10 Hastings (Neb.) to move forward in the elimination bracket.
  • No. 2 Marian (Ind.) bounced back to win 4-1 over Concordia (Mich.) who was competing in their first championship.
  • Grand View (Iowa), the 12th seed, starved off elimination by defeating No. 3 St. Xavier (Ill.) in a eighth game tie breaker.

Round Four Highlights

  • Top seeded Lawrence Tech lost four of the last five games to their rival from Indiana Tech, the fourth seed.
  • Seventh seed SCAD Savannah (Ga.) defeated No. 11 Milligan (Tenn.) by a 4-2 count, winning thee of the last four. 
  • No. 5 Pikeville (Ky.) fought back from down 3-2, winning the last two games to defeat No. 8 St. Francis 4-3. 
  • No. 2 Marian (Ind.) lost the first game 210-204 before ripping off four straight to defeat No. 12 Grand View (Iowa).

Round Five Highlights

  • Fourth seeded Indiana Tech outlasted No. 7 SCAD Savannah (Ga.) to win 227-225 in the seventh and decisive game. 
  • The Bears opened things with winning the first three. No. 5 Pikeville (Ky.) won their third straight elimination match, this time beating No. 11 Millian (Tenn.) 4-1.
  • No. 2 Marian (Ind.) beat the defending champions No. 1 Lawrence Tech (Mich.) by a 4-0 count, including three in a row to close. 

Round Six Highlights

  • No. 5 Pikeville (Ky.) won four straight against No. 2 Marian (Ind.) to advanced to tomorrow's elimination bracket final against No. 7 SCAD Savannah (Ga.)
