SCAD Savannah (Ga.) Wins 2024 NAIA Men's Bowling National Championship

STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. – [BRACKET | SCHEDULE] - The 2024 NAIA Men's Bowling National Championship concluded on Saturday as SCAD Savannah (Ga.) won the Battle For The Red Banner. The 4th Annual NAIA Men's Bowling National Championship, competed at 5 Star Lanes, ran from March 21st to 23rd and was hosted by Lawrence Tech and the Detroit Sports Commission. The Bees became the first program to win both the Men's and Women's title on the same day.

Round Seven Highlights

  • No. 5 Pikeville (Ky.) and SCAD Savannah (Ga.) faced off in Match 21, the final one before the championship round.
  • The Bears had won four straight elimination games to reach Saturday play while the Bees were looking for another chance at Indiana Tech after losing 4-3 on Friday. 

Championship Round Highlights

  • No. 4 seed Indiana Tech awaited the winner of Match 21, as the Bees were looking to win their third straight nationall title.
  • The Warriors are looking for their second Red Banner in porgram history, winning in 2022.
  • Neither Pikeville (Ky.) or SCAD Savannah (Ga.) had previously made the championship match. 
  • In the first game, the Bees earned a 204-198 victory riding double the number of strikes than the Warriors.
  • SCAD won 213-201 in the second game, using three strikes in a row during the 10th frame to earn the 10 point win.
  • Indiana Tech bounced back in the third to claim a 235-204 win, leading the game from the very first frame. 
  • In the fourth, Tech jumped out to a big lead, but both teams ending with a strike/spare combo in the 10th frame to tie 190-190.
  • Disappointed by letting one slip away, the Warriors grabbed a 257-221 victory to knot the contest at 2.5-2.5 after five games.
  • SCAD got back in control of the match, winning a game for the first time since they led 2-0; The Bees did so with a dominate 234-191 score on the heels of seven strikes and two spares.
  • The back and forth contest continued as Indiana Tech cruised to a 222-176 win due to a stretch of six straight strikes.
  • With the score tied 3.5-3.5 after seven games, the teams went into a decisive eight game.
  • SCAD Savannah game out firing on all cylinders to force the if necessary match; The Bees posted four straight strikes and seven overall to claim a 227-178 win.
  • The Bees and the Warriors are 1-1 against each other in the tournament after Indiana Tech won 4-3 in Match 19 and SCAD Savannah winning 4.5-3.5 in Match 22.
  • The double-elimination tournament went the distance for the second straight year.
  • SCAD started the second match with a 208-162 victory with all but one frame being closed.
  • The Warriors clawed back with a strong 225-195 performance that started with four straight strikes. 
  • SCAD roared back in the third game to claim a 243-228 victory and go up 2-1 in games.
  • The Bees built on their lead with a 203-179 game score, capitalizing on two frames left open by the Warriors.
  • Owning a 3-1 edge, SCAD Savannah earned strikes on seven of their first eight frames to take the game and tournament 232-210.
  • This is the Bees first Red Banner in men's program history. The women are three-time reigning champions.
