2022 NAIA Men's Bowling Championship Day Recap

STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. – [BRACKET | SCHEDULE] The Indiana Tech Warriors prevailed from the elimination bracket to take home the 2022 NAIA Men’s Bowling Championship that went to an if-necessary second match after Indiana Tech came back from a 2-1 deficit in the first match to win 3-2.

The Warriors then jumped out to a 2-0 advantage in the winner take all match before closing the door in game five to win the if necessary match 3-2 and the National Championship.

The University of St. Francis (Ill.) went through the winners bracket unscathed on Saturday and therefore had to be beaten twice.

 

Highlights

  • In the round six elimination match, the No. 7 Warriors rebounded from a 2-1 deficit to the No. 1 Cumberlands (Ky.) to eliminate the Patriots and advance to round seven versus No. 7 SCAD Savannah (Ga.).
  • In round seven against the Bees, Indiana Tech jumped out to a 2-1 advantage before rolling a 254-game in the deciding fifth game to advance to the championship match against the No. 3 St. Francis (Ill.)
  • In the first round of the championship match, The Saints took a 2-1 lead as the teams alternated games.
  • In a pair of low-scoring affairs, all sub 200 scores, Indiana Tech was the first team to win two matches in a row to force a deciding match for the National Championship.
  • The Warriors raced out to a two games to one lead in the winner take all match with the help of a 238 score in the opening game.
  • The Fighting Saints won game three with a 222 before narrowly forcing another game five on the last toss of the match, knocking down seven pins, to take it by the slimmest of margins, 244-243.
  • The Warriors outlasted the Fighting Saints 175-171 in the final set to win the 2022 NAIA Men’s Bowling National Championship.
