2021 NAIA Men’s Bowling Championship Day Two

STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich.- Day two of the NAIA Men’s Bowling Championship kicked off match play at Five Star Lanes on Friday.

Baker play and rounds 1-7 of the national championship will be video-streamed live on the NAIA Network at www.NAIANetwork.com, the NAIA’s official video-streaming platform powered by Stretch Internet. The championship final on March 27 at 12:00 p.m. central will air on ESPN3.

Highlights

  • Top seed Marian (Ind.) rolled through bracket play showing why they earned a one seed.
  • After a slow start by Martin Methodist (Tenn.) against Ottawa (Kan.), Martin Methodist pulled together to win Round 2 and Round 4 over Pikeville (Ky.). 
  • Martin Methodist (Tenn.) had the highest pinfall in a set on the day with 277 against Pikeville (Ky.)
  • There were four matches that were decided in five sets.
  • There were six matches that were decided in four sets.
  • There were two matches that were decided in three sets.
  • There were no set ties on the day.
  • There were six come-from-behind wins. Five of those come from behind wins saw one team win the first set and the other come back and win the next three straight. One of them the first two sets were won before the second team came back to win three sets straight.
  • Seeds No. 2 and 5 were upset and knocked out of the competition.
  • Saturday No. 1 Marian (Ind.), No. 3 Martin Methodist (Tenn.), No. 4 St. Francis (Ill.) and No. 6 Ottawa (Kan.) will continue the battle for the banner.
