Jackson Waring of Grand View (Iowa) Named 2024 NAIA National Player of the Year

DURHAM, N.C. – Grand View (Iowa) Quarterback Jackson Waring has been selected as the 2024 NAIA Football National Player of the Year as he leads his team back to the national title game. Under his play, the Vikings had a perfect regular season at 10-0 and dominated the Heart of America Athletic Conference North Division once again. Grand View was seeded second in the FCS playoffs and have shown why during their three postseason wins to date.

The senior signal caller from Ankeny, Iowa has been the starter for all 13 games so far this season for the Vikings. He has completed 171 of his 283 pass attempts for a 60.4% completion rate. He has racked up 2,382 yards, an average of 8.4 per pass attempt, and a total of 21 passing touchdowns to go with only three interceptions. He has a passing efficiency of 153.5. On the ground, Waring added 541 yards on 139 total rushes, good enough for 41.6 per game. He has scored 13 touchdowns and lost only two fumbles.

He posted a season high 263 passing yards during the Vikings FCS Second Round game against Friends (Kan.) on November 30th and ripped off his longest run of the season, 52 yards, last weekend in the victory over Morningside (Iowa) which propelled Grand View into the title game.

Earlier this week, Waring was chosen as a NAIA Third-Team All-American in addition to Offensive Player of the Year for the Heart North Division. He is the first player in Grand View program history to be named NAIA Football Player of the Year.
