2023 NAIA Football Players of the Week - No. 11 (November 13)

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -  Adrian Parsons of MidAmerica Nazarene (Kan.) has been named the NAIA Football Offensive Player of the Week, Ty Martinsen of Doane (Neb.) has been named the NAIA Football Defensive Player of the Week, and Jonah Edwards of Evangel (Mo.) has been named the NAIA Football Special Teams Player of the Week.  The trio was selected based on their performances from November 6-11 and were chosen out of a pool of conference/Continental Athletic Conference (Independents)/unafilliated group nominees. 

Players of the Week are announced weekly throughout the regular-season on Tuesdays on naia.org, Instagram and Twitter.

NAIA Football Offensive Player of the Week

Adrian Parsons, MidAmerica Nazarene (Kan.) - JR - Quarterback

  • Threw for 491 yards and 4 touchdowns in a victory at #14 Benedictine (Kan.).
  • Tossed a program record 96-yard touchdown pass. 
  • Went 27-for-39 and averaged 12.6 yard per attempt.  

 


NAIA Football Defensive Player of the Week

Ty Martinsen, Doane (Neb.) - SR - Linebacker

  • Forced three Bronco turnovers in the game including two inside the red zone area.  
  • His interception at the 18-yard line with 23 seconds left in the game was the first of his career.
  • In the final game of his career, he posted 14 tackles (10 solo), with two forced fumbles, an interception, 2.5 tackles for loss, and a sack.

 


NAIA Football Special Teams Player of the Week

Jonah Edwards, Evangel (Mo.) - JR - Kicker

  • Hit the game winning field goal in Evangel's 41-38 double OT victory against the Threshers.
  • He was 5-for-5 for PATs and 2-for-2 for FGs. 
  • Nailed a game long of 36 yards and scored 11 total points.
