2021 NAIA Competitive Cheer National Championship Recap - Day One

Davenport, IA. – In an extremely tight race, Oklahoma City ended the day in first by a margin of .02 with a team score of 90.25. St. Ambrose (Iowa) follow closely with a team score of 90.13. The day consisted of preliminary rounds with the cheer competition, where 12 teams performed.

 

Preliminary Highlights 

  • Oklahoma City was champion in 2017 and runner-up in 2018 and 2019.
  • St. Ambrose University had a strong day on the cheer mat, receiving a score 90.13 with no deductions.
  • Indiana Wesleyan ended the preliminary round in third place, scoring 88.68 points and putting them right in the hunt for the title.
  • The defending cheer champions, Concordia, finished the day in the middle of the pack, scoring 82.88 and placing eighth.
  • Missouri Valley finished in fourth today, looking to reclaim their title from 2018 they finished competition with a score of 88.62
  • First time qualifiers Xavier (La.), Life (Ga.) and Georgetown all finished middle of the pack today earning sixth, seventh and ninth.
