Evaluations of Countable & Non-Countable Opponents

The following list includes institutions evaluated under the countable opponent's provisions of the  National Statistical Service (NAC Policy XXV, Section A, Item 12). This list only reflects those teams for which the NAIA National Office received countable opponent inquiries. This is not an exhaustive list of non-countable opponents. It is an institution's responsibility to research if an opponent is countable or non-countable. 

For games to be considered countable (i.e. included in statistics, won-loss records, and coaching records), all of the following must be true:

  • The institution must be a four-year degree-granting institution.
  • The team must be a varsity program.
  • The institution must meet one of the following:
    • Hold active or associate membership in the NAIA,
    • Hold membership in the Universities Canada, Canadian College Athletic Association, Canadian U Sports,
    • Hold membership, full or provisional, in the National Christian College Athletic Association, or
    • Accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies in the U.S. (Search for accreditation).
      • The Association for Biblical Higher Education (Canada & United States)
      • The New England Association of Schools & Colleges
      • The North Central Association of Colleges & Schools (Higher Learning Commission)
      • The Northwest Commission on Colleges & Universities
      • The Middle States Association of Colleges & Schools
      • The Southern Association of Colleges & Schools
      • The Transnational Association of Christian Colleges and Schools
      • The Western Association of Schools & Colleges 

Non-Countable Opponents

The following institutions have been evaluated and contests against these opponents may not be reported to the National Statistical Service nor will the contest be included in statistics, won-loss records and coaching records. These opponents may only be scheduled for scrimmages and/or exhibitions.

The Apprentice School  - Newport News, VA: Institution is not a four-year degree-granting institution and does not meet the accreditation requirement (added September 27, 2021)

Atlantis University (Fla.) - Institution does not meet the accreditation or NCCAA membership requirement (added June 18, 2021)

Barber-Scotia College - Concord, NC: Institution does not meet the accreditation or NCCAA membership requirement

Blue Lights College - Apex, NC: Institution is not a four-year degree-granting institution and does not meet the accreditation requirement

California Miramar University - San Diego, CA: Institution does not meet the accreditation or NCCAA membership requirement

California Tribal College - Sacramento, CA: Institution is not a four-year degree-granting institution and does not meet the accreditation requirement (added June 25, 2024)

Carver College - Atlanta, GA: No longer a member with the NCCAA. Does notmeet accreditation requirement. (added August 17, 2022)

Central Christian University of South Carolina: Institution does not meet the accreditation or NCCAA membership requirement (added October 30, 2024)

Central International University - Lynchburg, VA: Institution does not meet the accreditation or NCCAA membership requirement

Central International University - Richmond, VA: Institution does not meet the accreditation or NCCAA membership requirement

College of Faith - Charlotte, NC: Institution does not meet the accreditation or NCCAA membership requirement

Concordia Seminary - St. Louis, MO: Institution is not a four-year degree granting institution

Dayspring Bible College - Mundelein, IL: Institution does not meet the accreditation or NCCAA membership requirement

Daytona Beach Christian University - Daytona, FL: Institution does not meet the accreditation or NCCAA membership requirement (added August 14, 2024)

Indiana Dabney University - Hammond, IN: Institution does not meet the accreditation or NCCAA membership requirement

InterAmerican Puerto Rico: Institution does not meet the accreditation requirement. (added January 3, 2024)

Forest Trail Sports University - Iowa: Institution does not meet the accreditation or NCCAA membership requirement

Forest Trail Sports University - North Carolina: Institution does not meet the accreditation or NCCAA membership requirement

Future College Prep - Carson, CA: Institution does not meet the accreditation or NCCAA membership requirement

Leech Lake Tribal College - Cass Lake, MN: Institution is not a four-year degree granting institution

Lewis-Clark Valley Football Association - Lewiston, ID: Does not meet the countable opponent critera. Is not an institution of higher learning.

Lighthouse Christian College - Pensacola, FL: Institution does not meet the accreditation requirement, not a four-year degree granting institution or NCCAA membership requirement (added August 21, 2024))

Logan University - Chesterfield, MO: Institution only sponsors club and recreational athletics

Medicine Hat College - Alberta, Canada: Institution is not a four-year degree granting institution

Millennia Atlantic University - Doral, FL: Institution does not meet the accreditation or NCCAA membership requirement (added January 2, 2024)

North Georgia Sports Academy - Cornelia, GA: Institution is not a 4-year degree-granting institution

Ohio Midwestern College - Sharonville, OH: Institution does not meet the accreditation or NCCAA membership requirement

Ohio State University - Marion, OH: Institution only sponsors club and recreational athletics

Quest University - Squamish, British Columbia: Institution does not meet the AUCC membership requirement for Canadian institutions

Redemption Christian College - Virginia Beach, VA: Institution does not meet the accreditation or NCCAA membership requirement

Rhema Bible College - Broken Arrow, OK: Institution does not meet the accreditation or NCCAA membership requirement

Roosevelt (formerly Robert Morris University)-Lake County, Ill.: Institution is considered an additional location and not a branch campus of the Roosevelt University system.

Roosevelt (formerly Robert Morris University)-Peoria, Ill.: Institution is considered an additional location and not a branch campus of the Roosevelt University system.

Roosevelt (formerly Robert Morris University)-Schaumburg, Ill.: Institution is considered an additional location and not a branch campus of the Roosevelt University system.

Saint Louis Christian College - Florissant, MO: Institution does not meet the accreditation or NCCAA membership requirement

Sisseton Wahpeton College - Sisseton, SD: Institution is not a four-year degree-granting institution
