NAIA Announces Indiana Wesleyan as Host for Outdoor Track & Field Championships

Indiana Wesleyan

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced on Monday that it has selected Indiana Wesleyan and Wildcat Track & Field Complex in Marion, Ind., as the host of its Outdoor Track & Field National Championships through the 2025 season. The contract includes an option for the 2026 season.

“In returning to Marion, Indiana for the Outdoor Track & Field Championships, we have secured a fantastic host that will put the student-athlete experience front and center,” said Austin Bennett, NAIA Director of Championships. “Through our conversations and application process, Indiana Wesleyan quickly moved to the top of our applicants for their attention to detail and their desire to put together a truly memorable experience.”

Indiana Wesleyan is not a stranger to hosting the event. The institution hosted four prior NAIA Outdoor Track & Field Championships (2010-2013). With a three-year agreement and an option for a fourth, Wildcat Athletics plans on building on its hosting experience in the past.

"We are both honored and excited to host this national event at IWU over the next three years," said Tod Dalberg, Indiana Wesleyan University Vice President for External Affairs. The University has a long history of partnering with local and county governments to bring events and conferences to the region. We look forward to seeing the positive impact this event will bring to the community over the next three years."

Included in plans for the coming years will be additional feeds for the championship broadcasts so that fans will have unprecedented access to events at one time. Additionally, all schools will reside on campus at Indiana Wesleyan, which will give student-athletes an Olympic Village feel as they compete for three days.

The 2023 NAIA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships are set to commence on May 24, 2023, and team champions will be crowned on May 26. The NAIA Track and Field National Championships are a three-day event that encompass several individual track and field events. Each student-athlete earns points for their respective teams and the team with the highest point total at the end is crowned the champion for that year.
