World Series Notes:

  • The 10 World Series teams qualified by winning their respective National Championship Opening Rounds, played out May 17-19 at ten different venues. The Opening Rounds consisted of four teams playing in double-elimination format.
  • The double-elimination 40th annual event takes place at the South Commons Complex in Columbus, Ga. Columbus Sports Council is the official event host.
  • The World Series begins with a No. 7 / No. 10 match-up between Mount Mercy (Iowa) and Houston-Victoria (Texas.) on Thursday at 10 a.m. EST. Mount Mercy holds a current world series record of 5-8 compared to Houston-Victoria who has a 2-4 record in World Series play.
  • Defending national champion Southern Oregon qualified for its 4th NAIA Softball World Series looking to bring the program their second red banner. The Raiders are ranked No. 1 in six different statistical categories including: hits per game (11.593), runs scored (8.111), battled in per game (7.167), batting average (0.408), total hits (626) and total runs score (438).
  • Southern Oregon and Oregon Tech are the only two 2021 qualifiers to earn an NAIA championship title.
  • Southern Oregon will play the winner of Milligan (Tenn.) and Bethany (Kan.) on Friday at 7:00 p.m. EST
  • Bethany (Kan.) is one of three No. 4 seeds to advance from the opening round bracket. The Swedes defeated the nationally ranked, No. 3 USAO yesterday and Grand View (Iowa) today for their spot in Georgia.
  • This will be the Swedes second time at the World Series, last appearance in 2012.
  • Mount Mercy (Iowa) is another No. 4 seed to advance from the opening round bracket.
  • Ottawa (Kan.) is making their second appearance at the World Series in program history, the first was in 2017.
  • Oregon Tech enters the 40th annual world series on an 11 game straight win streak. The No. 2 seeded Hustlin’ Owls will play the winner of the Mount Mercy (Iowa) and Houston-Victoria (Texas) on Friday afternoon.
  • Two of ten world series qualifiers return from the last world series in 2019. Including No. 1 seed, defending national champions, Southern Oregon and No. 2 seed Oregon Tech.
  • The NAIA Network – the association’s official video streaming home – will broadcast all nine matches live at the 2021 NAIA Softball World Series in Columbus, Ga. The video platform, powered by Stretch Internet, allows users access to live video, statistics, and social interaction on a number of devices, including mobile.
