Oklahoma City Coach Reaches Win No. 1,400

OKLAHOMA CITY – Phil McSpadden notched his 1,400th career college coaching victory as Oklahoma City University edged Oklahoma Baptist 3-2 on Thursday at Ann Lacy Stadium.
Oklahoma Baptist answered with a 2-1 win in the nightcap. The Stars, ranked eighth in NAIA softball, went to 32-8, 15-5 in the Sooner Athletic Conference.
McSpadden owns a 1,400-350 record in 27 years as OCU coach. McSpadden has the most victories of any current NAIA softball coach. He has guided OCU to eight national championships.
The Stars overcame a 2-0 deficit. Cheyanne Terry drove in the winning run with a double to right-center field in the fifth inning.
Kyndra Holasek hammered a solo blast over the right-field wall to get OCU going in the first inning. Jamie Rateliff knocked in the Stars' second run with a base hit to left.
Danielle Fox limited Oklahoma Baptist to two unearned runs on five hits and a walk in seven innings. Fox, a senior from Yukon, Okla., struck out eight and logged 113 pitches in moving to 9-1 on the year.
Amanda Ingram, a redshirt freshman from Oklahoma City, went 2-for-2 with a run scored, while Terry, a junior from Little Axe, Okla., was 2-for-3 with a run scored, a double, stolen base and an RBI for OCU.
Rateliff, a junior from Mustang, Okla., went 1-for-3 with an RBI, and Holasek, a sophomore from Mustang, Okla., went 1-for-3 with her eighth home run of the year.
In the second game, Holasek struck for her ninth homer by leading off the bottom of the first with a homer for the second game in a row. Holasek's solo shot bounced off the top of center-field wall.
Oklahoma Baptist tied the game on Amanda Harmon's RBI single in the third inning. In the top of the seventh, Raeven Clark homered off the left-center field foul pole to give Oklahoma Baptist the lead 2-1.
In the bottom of the seventh, Holasek drew a two-out walk, then was caught stealing at second base for the first time this season to end the game.
Holasek went 2-for-2 with a run scored and a run driven in to put her batting average at .521. Kayley Humann had a base hit, while Terry and Maxime van Dalen doubled for the Stars.
Maci-Brooke Lambert took the loss. Lambert, a junior from Healdton, Okla., struck out five in six innings.
The Stars take on Southwestern Assemblies of God (Texas) in a 2 p.m. doubleheader Tuesday in Waxahachie, Texas.
