Pitching Dominates As Lindsey Wilson Cruises To 8-0 Win

GULF SHORES, Ala.(Box Score) The duo of Anyibell Ramirez and Morgan Paschall combined to one-hit Bellevue (Neb.) (31-19) as Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) (47-7) pulled out an 8-0 victory on day two of the 2011 NAIA Softball National Championship Friday at the Gulf Shores Sportsplex.

 

Ramirez (28-6) got the start and the win, throwing four innings of no-hit ball, striking out six and walking one. Paschall threw the final two innings in the run-rule shortened six-inning game, allowing only one hit and striking out five Bruins.

Amanda Neumann (22-10) took the loss after giving up one earned run on four hits in 2.2 innings of action.

 

At the plate, Ally Goniea did the bulk of the damage for the Blue Raiders, finishing 2-for-3 with two doubles and five RBIs. Megan Huckaby and Amy Harner each added a pair of hits and scored two runs.

 

Goniea started the scoring with a RBI-double in the first, and Lindsey Wilson scored five between the third and fourth innings to pull away. She accounted for the three-run fourth inning with a three-run double.

 

Lindsey Wilson will face Belhaven (Miss.) Friday at 3 p.m. CDT in a matchup of teams that are 2-0 in pool play, while Bellevue, 0-2 in pool play, will face Minot State (Neb.) at 10 a.m.
