Morningside Softball Coach Posts Career Win No. 400

SIOUX CITY, Iowa - Morningside College (Iowa) softball head coach Jessica Jones-Sitzmann achieved a coaching career milestone on Thursday when the Mustangs defeated Concordia University (Neb.) 7-0 in the first round of the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Softball Championships in Hastings, Neb.

The win was the 400th victory of her coaching career. Jones-Sitzmann has a 400-242 record for a .623 winning percentage in 11 plus seasons as a collegiate head coach, all at Morningside. She is the winningest softball coach in Morningside history and has guided the Mustangs to a school-record eight consecutive 30-win seasons, including a 36-7 mark this year.

Jones-Sitzmann guided the Mustangs to the 2010 GPAC regular season championship with a 21-3 league mark to secure a second consecutive appearance in the NAIA Softball National Championships. She also led Morningside to GPAC regular season championships in 2007 and 2009 to earn GPAC Coach of the Year honors both seasons. Jones-Sitzmann led the Mustangs to a GPAC Tournament championship in 2008. Her 2007 Morningside team finished 43-13 to set school records for victories and with a .768 winning percentage.
