ORANGE BEACH, Ala. - St. Gregory's University (Okla.) head softball coach Heather Shanahan reached a career milestone Sunday by earning her 400th victory in the Cavaliers' 6-3 win over Auburn University-Montgomery (Ala.). The win this weekend was the fourth for the No. 10 Cavaliers, who are participating in the Gulf Coast Invitational.

Shanahan has guided the program to four consecutive national championship appearances and a top-10 national ranking for much of the last four seasons. Included in her accolades are two conference tournament titles, one regional crown and nine consecutive winning seasons. She also has coached eight NAIA All-Americans and 12 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes.

Last year's national runner-up finish was the furthest an SGU softball team had ever advanced in postseason play.

"The support I've had from my players and coaches over the last 10 years has been unbelievable," Shanahan said. "I owe the credit to them. I couldn't have been successful without them. I've been blessed with being around many great coaches who have enabled me to learn and be student of the game."

Shanahan has served as assistant softball coach at the University of Oklahoma and at the College of San Mateo in California. She was a private hitting instructor for Sports Plus of Oklahoma City and has served as a graduate assistant softball coach at Oklahoma City University.
