VICTORIA, Tex. - History was made not once, but twice last week by University of Houston-Victoria Pitcher Tasha Rotramel.

Thursday, in front of over 250 fans at Burdge Field, Rotramel pitched the first no hitter in UHV’s short history as the Jaguars beat Dana College, 6-0. On Saturday, Rotramel capped a 2 game sweep of Texas College by pitching her second consecutive no hitter as the Jags won the second game 10-1.  Rotramel stuck out 13 in the win and the only run allowed was the result of a lead off walk.

For Rotramel, these were the first no hitters she has thrown at any level and the reality of it has finally sunk in.

“Being the first to throw back to back no hitters for UHV feels pretty amazing,” said the Jags pitcher.  “I’ve been working really hard to get to this level.”

Jaguars head coach Keri Lambeth says Tasha and the rest of the staff’s hard work is paying off for the team.

“Tasha works hard in practice, with her catchers, focusing on hitting her spots and does a great job attacking the hitters every pitch, “ said Lambeth. “Tasha and the entire staff are working on controlling the game from the circle.”

Rotramel says the credit for her entry into the Jaguars record book needs to be shared with her teammates.

“I have to give credit to the other pitchers on the team, (seniors Kristen Lindley and Lauren Garza) who work with me and provide their insight,” said the junior, who has a 7-2 record in her first NAIA season.  “My defense has also made some awesome plays behind me keeping some hits from getting through.”

The 17th ranked Jaguars will travel to the Dallas area this weekend to play Northwood University and Texas Wesleyan.

And is a third straight no-no in sight for Rotramel?

“I’m going to try.”
