Dakota State senior Emily Pyle to Play against USA Olympic Team

June 16, 2008

MADISON, S.D. - The South Dakota Amateur Softball Association selected Dakota State senior Emily Pyle to play on the Black Hills Gold, an all-star softball team that is scheduled to play the three-time and defending gold medal winning U.S. Olympic softball team on July 15, at Pete Lien Memorial Field in Rapid City at 7 p.m.

Pyle is one of only 18 players to make the roster. The Black Hills Gold is made up of players who are either originally from South Dakota, played at a South Dakota college or university or have some other connection to the state. Emily is the lone member of the squad who did not play at an NCAA institution.

While playing for the Trojans Pyle hit .353, recorded 22 doubles, 7 homeruns, 59 RBI's, drew 36 walks and stole 14 bases while scoring 72 times in just 90 games.

"This is a great opportunity for Emily, and I couldn't be happier for her. Having the opportunity to face the best pitching in the world will be an experience I am certain she will treasure forever." stated Dakota State University and Black Hills Gold coach Ken Prorok.  "I am looking forward to working with this select team and taking the field on July 15."
