St. Gregory's (Okla.) Advances in Winner's Bracket

DECATUR, Ala. - St. Gregory's (Okla.) advanced in the winner's bracket with a 3-1 win over Simon Fraser (B.C.) at the 2008 NAIA Softball National Championship double elimination bracket.

 

The Cavaliers' Nicole Tindall went 3-for-3 at the plate and drove in two runs while Sharon Bell tossed seven innings and allowed just one hit with six strike outs.

 

Simon Fraser scored first in the top of the second inning when Meaghan Cumpstone double, moved to third on a sacrifice bunt and scored on a wild pitch.  St. Gregory's answered to tie the game in the bottom of the inning.  Lisa Bell scored from third on Kyra Hart's single to shallow right-center.  The Cavaliers added two runs in the bottom of the sixth to make it 3-1 when Dailyn Dauman and Jessica Munson scored on Tindall's double to deep left.

 

St. Gregory's will face Lubbock Christian (Texas) in the winner's bracket while Simon Fraser will take on Dickinson State (N.D.) in the elimination game.  Both games are schedule for 5:30 p.m. (CST).
