ASHLAND, Ore. - Southern Oregon University all-star Leann Foster's memorable afternoon helped the Raiders sweep a non-conference softball doubleheader against Northwest Christian College.

The senior outfielder from Central Point became the school's career RBI leader by singling in two runs in a 13-5 Game 1 romp, and her one-out, eighth-inning, bases-loaded single plated the game-winner in a 5-4 Raider Game 2 triumph.

Foster, who leads the Cascade Conference as a result of knocking in 29 of her 96 RBI as a Raider this season, went 4-for-6 in the twinbill, while senior infielder Megan Rock also finished with four hits to lead the Raiders (18-13).

After suffering a five-inning, mercy rule-shortened setback in Game 1, the Beacons (11-13) nearly halted a 15-game losing streak against Southern with a fifth-inning Game 2 rally.

The Eugene school erased a 4-0 deficit with the help of a game-tying, bases-clearing double by freshman Missi Williams, but Raider hurler Julianne Cree helped SOU wiggle out of another sacks-juiced jam by recording three infield outs in relief of Cat Cousins.

Cree (7-6), who tossed four hitless innings, notched her team-leading seventh season victory when sophomore Allesha Spradling scored the winning run under international tie-break rules in the bottom of the eighth.

Senior Tanisha Burch tied her own school record by receiving four walks in Game 1 prior to going 3-for-4 with a pair of RBI in Game 2.

Freshman outfielder Deni Rowley singled in her first two at-bats of the day to equal the 2003 program record for consecutive hits (seven) originally acheived by another North Medford High all-state product, Haley Varley.

Junior Kasey Sconce staked NCC to a 3-0 edge by belting a three-run homer in the first inning of the opening contest, but five Beacon errors coupled with two-run singles by Foster, junior Katie Lee and Natalie Neilsen resulted in eight unearned runs over the first two innings against Beacon starter Megan McLearn.

Caudill (5-2) allowed four runs on five hits in four frames for the Game 1 win, and Sconce, who went 3-for-6 in the doubleheader, drove in all four NCC runs.

Freshman pitcher Joelle Riekeman had her best collegiate outing by blanking NCC the first four frames of the second fray, which lowered her season ERA from 8.18 to 4.20.

Former Raider women's basketball player Stacy Ermini scored Northwest Christian's second run in Game 2 as a pinch-runner.
