JACKSON, Miss. - Belhaven College (Miss.) senior pitcher Lyndsey Gavulic set the NAIA single-game record for strike-outs with 19 against the Christian Brothers University (Tenn.) on February 11.  The record came during the Henderson State Invitational at Freedom Ridge Park in Ridgeland, Miss.

In the second game of the day, Gavulic (2-0) faced 32 batters in eight innings of work, keeping the Lady Bucs scoreless throughout the game for the 3-0 victory.  The 19 strikeouts bests the current NAIA record of 18, set by two individuals - Marisa Jensen of Waldorf College (Iowa) in 2005 and Gretchen Weiss of William Woods University (Mo.) in 1991.

"Lyndsey consistently executed our defensive game plan throughout the innings," said Head Coach Rick Fremin.  "She has the capability of this type of performance any time her number is called.  Her play this past weekend is what we expect as a coaching staff with her being a 4-year starter.

Gavulic recorded a 7-6 victory during the first game against Millsaps College (Miss.).

Belhaven will take the field on Friday, February 17 as they meet East Texas Baptist University in a double-header.
