Week 9 (February 15, 2023)

Wrestler of the Week: Eric Vermillion, Indiana Tech

   

Eric went 3-0 and finished first at 184. Selected as wrestler of the year in the WHAC.

Week 8 (February 8, 2023)

Wrestler of the Week: Devon Schoenberger, Missouri Valley

   

Finished with a 5-0 record, which included a technical fall win in the dual against Benedictine, and a first place finish at the MVC Open, at 125lbs.

Week 7 (February 1, 2023)

Wrestler of the Week: Riley Smucker, Life (Ga.)

   

Smucker went 5-0 on the week. In dual action against Reinhardt, he provided the decision victory over a two time All-American that put Life back ahead. At the Blue Raider Open, Smucker breezed his way through the 174 lbs bracket, claiming the top spot by beating all his opponents in the bonus.

Week 6 (January 25, 2023)

Wrestler of the Week: Gabe Jacobs, Southeastern (Fla.)

   

In just his second tournament with the Fire, sophomore Gabe Jacobs won the 285-pound title, becoming the first individual champion in program history at the event. Sixth-ranked Jacobs picked up three first-period falls to reach the quarterfinals where he was an 11-5 winner over 20th-ranked Ethan Deroche of Providence. Jacobs then pinned seventh-ranked Joshua Isaac in 1:48 to advance to the final. Riding time was the difference for Jacobs defeating Grand View's Tommy Mommer, who finished fifth at nationals last season, in the final by the score of 2-1. Jacobs finished second in the field for most pins in the least time with four in a total of 7:01, missing out on the top spot by 1:05. His 29 team points scored was also second in the field.

Week 5 (January 18, 2023)

Wrestler of the Week: Brent Hudgins, Midway (Ky.)

   

Brent Hudgins posted a perfect 4-0 record last week to claim the individual championship at 157 and help lead Midway to their first tournament victory in program history at the CBC Invitational. His three wins included three pins and one tech fall.

Week 4 (January 11, 2023)

Wrestler of the Week: Baagii Boldma, Doane (Neb.)

   

Boldmaa wrestled three matches for No. 4 Doane at the NWCA Multi-Division National Duals, helping lead the Tigers to a 3rd Place finish. On the first day of action, Doane defeated No. 19 Oklahoma City and No. 5 Indiana Tech. Boldmaa earned a pair of Top 10 battles, defeated 4th-ranked Caden Manion of OCU and 6th-ranked Kyle Kantola of Indiana Tech. Boldmaa's third match of the weekend came in the Third Place match against No. 3 Southeastern. He defeated 3rd-ranked Parker Dobrocky to collect his 150th career win between Northwest Kansas Tech and Doane.

Wrestler of the Week: Daulton Mayer, Thomas More (Ky.)

   

Went 3-2 at the Ken Kraft Midlands Championships with two wins by decision and a win by fall in 53-seconds.

Week 2 (November 23, 2022)

Wrestler of the Week: Steven Villalobos, Life (Ga.)

   

Villalobos went undefeated in a competitive bracket that hosted wrestlers ranked 9th, 11th, 16th, and 20th in the NAIA as well as multiple NCAA D1 opponents claim the 157 lbs. bracket title. In the quarterfinals he defeated the 9th ranked wrestler, getting revenge on Young who put him out in last year's national tournament.

Won the GV Open beating the #9, #5, and #4 The bracket also had the 18, 16, 12, 8, & 3 ranked wrestlers.
