Players of the week are evaluated on their performance during the week prior to the announcement. Each player is selected out of a pool of conference and group award winners.

Week 10 (March 29,2022)

Attacker of the Week: Kyle Anema, Vanguard (Calif.)

  A blistering week for #9, who hit .447 for the week. Now eighth in the NAIA in hitting percentage and 10th in kills/set. Tied his season-high in kills with 25 against Menlo in the reverse sweep.

 

Defender of the Week: Jay Montalvo, Campbellsville (Ky.)

  Totaled 42 digs on the week for an average of 3.5 digs per set. Helped his team to a 2-1 week with wins over Thomas More (Ky.) and Bluefield (Miss.).

 

Setter of the Week: Bryce Thompson, Vanguard (Calif.)

  Racked up plenty of assists while helping the Lions sweep all three matches on the week, claiming a share of the regular-season title. The team hit .352, .423, and .433 in the wins. Remains second in the NAIA in assists/a set

Week 9 (March 22, 2022)

Attacker of the Week: Kyle Anema, Vanguard (Calif.)

  Anema was huge for VU against OUAZ and ACU but also made his mark against Ottawa, hitting seven aces in a row, part of 10 on the night one shy of the current-season record of 11 (as of that Wednesday). Anema is now 15th in the NAIA in kills/set.

Defender of the Week: Akeil Williams, Ottawa (Kan.)

  In four matches last week, Williams had 27 blocks. He averaged 1.6 blocks per set and 6.7 blocks per match. Williams set a new school record for blocks in a match in OU's 3-2 win over Hope International University on Saturday night. He finished the match with 11.

Setter of the Week: Bryce Thompson, Vanguard (Calif.)

  Thompson was huge in lifting VU over OUAZ and posted huge numbers in the win against ACU. Thompson is second in the NAIA in assists a-set.

Week 8 (March 15, 2022)

Attacker of the Week: Alex Costa, Trinity Christian (Ill.)

  Tied his season high with 29 kills at Viterbo on Mar. 12... Attack percentage of .381 for the week while averaging 19.75 kills per match...

Defender of the Week: Caleb Ginnings, Cumberland (Tenn.)

  Another big week from the Cumberland libero. He had 90 digs and helped CU upset No. 3 William Penn with 25 digs in that match. He posted a 24 dig match on the road at Thomas More. Caleb leads the NAIA in digs with 367.

Setter of the Week: Luciano Bucci, Park (Mo.)

  Luciano Bucci earned his 3,000th career assist in his most recent match against Clarke University, recording the 3,000th assist to close out set one. In the three wins over No. 2 William Penn, No. 13 Mount Mercy, and Clarke; Bucci had 126 assists, including a new career best 62 assists in a match against the Statesmen. He averaged 11.45 assists per set, earned 14 digs, delivered five service aces, and reeled in five kills.

 Week 7 (March 8, 2022)

Attacker of the Week: Julian Armendano, Aquinas (Mich.)

  Posted a week-high of 24 kills vs Adrian. Was one dig away from a double-double vs No. 6 Missouri Baptist with 19 kills and 9 digs. Helped his team to an undefeated week, which included wins over No. 6 MBU and No. 14 Saint Xavier (Ill.).

Defender of the Week: Korben Phillips, Jamestown (N.D.)

  Phillips posted a total of 23 blocks. with 14 of them being assisted blocks. He helped his team to a 3-1 week with a win over No. 10 Lourdes (Ohio). The freshman was one kill away from a double-double vs No. 4 Grand View (Iowa) with nine kills and 10 blocks.

Setter of the Week: Francisco Arredondo, Grand View (Iowa)

   Arredondo directed his team to a 3-0 week with wins over No. 10 Lourdes (Ohio); No. 6 Jamestown (N.D.) and RV Mount Mercy (Iowa). The junior averaged 12.2 assists per set and did not post lower than 35 assists in a match last week. He posted a week high of 49 assists.

Week 6 (March 1, 2022) 

Attacker of the Week: Grant Ooms, Saint Xavier (Ill.)

  Totaled 41 kills, averaged 4.0 kills per set and had an attack percentage of .541 (40-7-61) in three matches to help extend SXU's winning streak to a program-record 13 consecutive matches.

Defender of the Week: Troy Jackson, Saint Katherine (Calif.)

  Graduate middle blocker, Troy Jackson, patrolled the net for Firebirds in a tough week of road matches. The middle notched a very impressive 30 total blocks (3 solo, 27 assist, 2.5 blocks/set) in Saint Katherine?s away matches against NCAA DI opponent Cal State Northridge, and conference opponents #11 Benedictine-Mesa and Park-Gilbert. Jackson also collected 18 kills and 33 points on the week.

  Hit 50 assists in a single match for the first time of his career in the 3-1 win over Goshen on Saturday.

Week 5 (February 22, 2022) 

Attacker of the Week: Matthew Roussin, Vanguard (Calif.)

  Matthew Roussin hit .611 with 12 kills and just one error in 18 attempts as No. 3 Vanguard swept No. 2 Menlo, 25-19, 25-16, 25-22. He added three service aces, two digs and a block assist.

Defender of the Week: Kyle Merzweiler, Missouri Baptist

  Recorded at least four blocks in each match this week helping lead MBU to a 4-0 week and two Top-15 wins over #11 Missouri Valley and #4 Park...Had a career night blocking vs. MoVal, recording 4 solo blocks and 8 block assists...The 12 blocks were the most by a Spartan since 2006.

   Arredondo directed his team to an undefeated week with wins over Park (Mo.) and Jamestown (N.D.). Set a season-high of 66 assists vs Jamestown.

Week 4 (February 15, 2022)

Attacker of the Week: Jeff Lam, Lourdes (Ohio)

  Had more than 20 kills and hit better than .450 in all three matches this week ... recorded a pair of double-doubles ... averaged nearly seven kills per set while adding three digs per set.

Defender of the Week: Landon Krause, William Penn (Iowa)

  Krause finished with 15 blocks, including 4 versus both #1 Grand View and Culver-Stockton and 7 against #11 Missouri Valley. He also averages 4.11 kills per set (37 total) on a .492 attack clip.

  The team hit .274 as he dished out 74 assists, including a season-best 42 assists against #10 Lourdes.

Week 3 (February 8, 2022)

Attacker of the Week: Diego Perez, The Master's (Calif.)

   Perez led the TMU's offense on the week, helping the Mustangs pick up two ranked wins over No. 10 Georgetown (Ky.) and No. 15 UC Merced. His 26 kills were instrumental in a reverse sweep win over the Tigers before racking up double-digit kills for the fifth time this season against the Bobcats. He also contributed nicely in the service game and defensively with his digging ability.

Defender of the Week: Daniel Isernhagen, Park (Mo.)

   He helped Park to a 4-1 record in five matches, including wins against No. 12 OUAZ and (RV) Ottawa. Isernhagen was a menace up the middle, collecting 20 total blocks on 19 block assists. He averaged 1.25 blocks per set and also earned a healthy 20 kills. Overall hit .333 for the five match span.

Setter of the Week: Elijah Wrobel, Judson (Ill.)

  Wrobel continues to dominate for Judson as he had 65 assists, seven blocks, seven kills, and nine digs for Judson in a 2-0 conference week.

Week 2 (February 1, 2022)

Attacker of the Week: Lucas Rebula, Mount Mercy (Iowa)

  Rebula had another strong week, leading the Mustangs in kills while hitting .422 over three matches. That included a .652 attack percentage in Friday's sweep of Morningside at the Clarke triangular.

Defender of the Week: Noah McConville, Judson (Ill.)

  Judson's libero is 29 digs short of 1,000 now with 41 total digs in Friday's impromptu Judson tri-match victories.

Setter of the Week: Connor Muff, William Penn (Iowa)

  Muff led WPU to upset wins over (RV) Mount Mercy and #11 Missouri Baptist. He averaged 10.63 digs per set in addition to 1.00 digs, 0.75 blocks, and 0.63 kills per set. He tallied 49 assists in a reverse sweep of Missouri Baptist.

Week 1 (January 25, 2022)

Attacker of the Week: Chase Direito, Menlo (Calif.)

  Chase Direito led the Oaks to a perfect weekend in the 2022 Oak Invitational. Chase tallied a team-high 34 kills on 43 swings and just 1 error, swinging at a .767 clip. Chase also tallied two aces, seven digs, and 11 blocks. Chase helped the Oaks to a sweep of second-ranked Benedictine Mesa, the best win in program history. Chase now ranks second in the conference in kills.

Nominees: Daynte Stewart, Indiana Tech; Victor Bazzo, Midway (Ky.); Pedro Castillo, Calumet (Ind.); Chris Morikawa, UC Merced (Calif.); Lucas Rebula, Mount Mercy (Iowa)

Defender of the Week: Glen Linden, Vanguard (Calif.)

   Glen Linden averaged 1.38 blocks per set as the Lions posted a 2-1 record in the opening week of the season. Vanguard defeated two nationally-ranked squads in No. 15 UC Merced and No. 2 Benedictine Mesa. Linden was key defensively in those wins, tallying nine blocks in the five-set triumph over the Bobcats. He also contributed on the offensive end with 11 kills on .733 hitting. Linden did not commit an error in 15 swings. Against Benedictine Mesa, Linden had seven total blocks, including four solo. He played a large role in holding the Redhawks to .086 (27-21-70) hitting efficiency over the last three sets of the match as the Lions engineered a reverse sweep. The middle blocker also totaled eight digs over the three contests. For the week, he averaged 1.46 kills, 1.38 blocks and 0.62 digs per set while hitting .368 (19-5-38) overall.

   Douglas was instrumental in the success CU had this weekend. He posted 101 digs averaging 11.22 per set.
